Exclusive: (2003) Reviews S.W.A.T. with Collin Farrel and Samuel L. Jackson

In what possibly may steal Box Office Thunder at the Box Office, another television remake his the big screen in the form of the 1970’s Cop Show called S.W.A.T. The movie Stars Collin Farrell, as LAPD Officer Jim Street, who would sell his soul to wear the uniform of the S.W.A.T. team. He gets that chance when his team commander Hondo, played by Samuel L. Jackson, puts Street in charge of recruiting five of the toughest members of the a new unit of the Special Weapons and Tactical (SWAT) unit

This is when the movie takes off after the training, cause their first assignment pouts the team in the middle of transporting a notorious Drug Kingpin, played by Oliver Martinez to trial when he makes a bold offer to the news media, that he would give a $100 million to whomever frees him from custody.

Directed by new feature Film Director Clark Johnson (TV Show’s Homicide), SWAT is an intriguing action film that would blow you out of the water, as anyone who has hated cops may get some interesting ideas from this movie

Enter an ex-Swat member, Brian Gamble, played by (Jeremy Renner) bent on collecting on the $100 million reward, as he sets trap after trap from there for the team.

For first time director, Johnson I think makes the story work, as I was enthralled by the way other members of the team, Michelle Rodrigues and LL Cool J just to mention a few, co-exist with helping Jackson and Farrell bring the masterminds in.

S.W.A.T. is not tated at the junction, and hits theatres on August 8, 2003, but I am expecting it to be rated ‘R’ for language and Graphic violence.

My rating: gets a solid 9 out of 10.

I thought the movie was ok, nothing special. If your into action then its definetley a good movie to see.

I saw it this evening. Promised a few people I'd put a review up and it seems there's no better place than here.

I thought SWAT worked pretty well. They figured out a way to make some of the overly done action sequences and explosions work... There were a few underdone/overdone story lines, but everything really seemed to move the show along. I liked the training bit that took up a good chunk of the early movie that Moviegod didn't seem to say much about. Particularly enjoyed the plane boarding exercise.

Good one liners, pretty pretty weapons, and just an overall GO GO GO-type movie, I give it an 8.5 /10.

I don't know about the whole graphic violence comment, but yeah it was a good movie, if not as action packed as say, Bad Boys 2.
The training scenes were much better than the prisoner transfer IMO, not that that's really a bad thing.
Farrell has yet to disappoint, Jackson/LL/Rodriguez all did good, and Renner played a good disgruntled ex-cop (he needed ANY kind of role after the abomination that was "Dahmer")

If I must rate, I'd give it a 7/10, I'd probably give it a higher score if the action was a little more intense.

Its good for one reason, at least in my opinion.
Its not a sequel.
Sequels are lame. Sequels are the same movies with a different plot. Its like watching the same old thing all over, but some sequels are worth watching.
