only problem is... its not a sequel.. its a remake of the original.. and while i am excited about the movie.. im not expecting much from it.. cause i mean.. how many horror movie remakes have actualy been good? of all the movies to be remade.. only 1 comes to mind that was as good if not better than the original.. and thats the 1991 version of night of the living dead.. but thats basicly because it was george romero who first made NOTLD.. and he also made the remake..

but yeah.. the chick from scrubs is in the new one.. and while she IS hot.. everytime i see her im just gonna remember when she was becky on the roseanne show..

so yeah..i cant wait to see it..but im keeping low expectations so i wont be too disapointed

*Yawn* The 1974 original is awesome. The later sequels were unecessary and blew chunks.

This is another Italian Job, a movie that should never have been remade. Hollywood just doesn't listen. Grrr.

Posted by hahe on 07-17-2003 04:40 PM:

The Italian Job remake was a pretty decent movie. TCM remake looks decent from the trailer. I never saw the first one but I saw most of the crappy sequels (2,3, and most of 4).

Posted by pHo on 07-17-2003 04:45 PM:

the original was awful, and tobe hooper couldn't make a good film if he had $100m (poltergeist was great mind, i'll give him that, and lifeforce was cool hehe, but look at his track record, and u'll see all the other dross). whilst the idea was great, the way it was done is incredibly boring, and the shock tactics totally fall on its ass. i understand other people like it, and i guess i can see why, but i thought it was shite so they can go and "ruin" it with a remake, cos i dont see how it would be any worse

leatherface is probably the most abused horror baddy of all time, cos his character is so great, but the films he's in are so bad.

the sequels were unnecessary? well.. maybe.. but 3 was the best out of all 3 of them

these type of horrors are very old hat.lets see some imagination.
too many with same type of plot.more shit for sky to repeat to death.

Actually Napalm it was Tom Savini who remade Night of the Living Dead, Romero didn't direct both. Savini kicks ass though, so I'd trust him to remake anything that's horror.

As for this TCM abomination, one word: boycott.
I read the imdb rundown of it a while back, and it said something like "a less violent but more scary remake". Great, so not only do we get to have a non violent movie about a family of cannibals, but we're also given a director who doesn't know his stuff and a cast of Scream rejects.

I did like the other TCM movies though, even the previous remake that the world shit on (the Matthew McConaughey/Renee Zellweger one).

Speaking of Savini, he'll be acting in the new Dawn of the Dead remake.......but NOT doing makeup fx. What a slap in the face to a genius. Anyone think that remake is a bad idea? I don't, I think they could pull it off. Great cast too.

Oh yeah and the Italian Job remake is pretty lousy

*watching the trailer*
1 relatively famous actress- check
1 groping foreplay scene- check
only 1 shot of the new leather face. damn you new line
in theatres in time for halloween, predictable.

Okay, I'm going out on a limb here, but I think the Italian Job was a good movie................

BUT, it was NOT the Italian Job!, practically only the opening credits were in Italy, they did not play the Self Preservation Society once, and nobody said 'You're only suposed to blow the bloody doors off'.

It was, however a fairly good film, change the title, a couple of characters and use any other car, and they wouldn't have got anywhere near as much flak for it. My 2 cents.

As for TCM, I remember seeing the original when I was young and it scaring the shit out of me, but I saw it again a couple of months ago, and laughed most of the way through it, so I think I lost all sense of fear!

A re-make or a sequal to a good film is not neccesarily a bad thing, but the Hollywood machine is recently just pumping out site.

The good movies these days are the 'epics' that have storylines to them and cause debate (Matrix, LOTR, Star Wars, Harry Potter)

They need to close down the machine for maintenance, it got bunged up somewhere along the line.

Did you even watch the "New" version?

There were only a couple of similarities between it and the original.

The title, the fact that it was in Italy, gold, an old guy getting out of prison and the use of minis. Nothing else was even close to being similar though.

It was similar to the original, in the same way that all horror movies are similar. Evil person/force kills good people, teenagers have sex, group splits up to go seperate directions and gets killed, one sub-group finds out information pertinent to the destruction of evil person/force, member of information heavy sub-group dies before killing evil person/force.

The new Italian Job actually was a pretty good movie.

Posted by webe123 on 07-21-2003 03:13 AM:

What I really want to know is : WAS there a manhunt for these people in texas? It said there was one of the largest ever assembled, but they didn't come up with anything! I don't know how that could be possible, considering that the HOUSE all of this happened in HAD to be somewhere NEAR where they fdound the girl! And what happened to the van they drove?

Posted by hahe on 07-21-2003 08:52 PM:

It isn't based on a true story. It was inspired by a true story though. Tobe Hooper based Leatherface on the mass-murderer Ed Gein.

Angry

This movie is going to suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
because 9 out of 10 remakes suck you do the math.

Posted by CaptHowdy on 07-23-2003 01:37 AM:

Even though it wasnt directly releated to the story House of 1000 Corpses looks like it has more in common with the TCM original than the remake. This looks like another tired hollywood ploy to cash in on Leatherface because because they cant come up with any new "Boogymen". Looks nothing like the original, the first 3 quarters of the film look like theyre gonna be different than the original and the last quarter just cant be done properly because its hollywood. The best horror movies were made in the 70's - 80's when they used foam latex, I wouldnt be suprised if leatherface was digital in this one. Michael Bay produced...nuff said. To the people who know who Tom Savini is, you know were gonna watch it, but we know its gonna suck.

Posted by high squared on 07-23-2003 04:34 PM:

the first one sucked, i mean it was boring as hell. the movie had nothing but killing. original.
