Review: (2003) Once Upon a Time in Mexico with Antonio Banderas and Salma
Once Upon a Time in Mexico
Movie review
In this mind numbing conclusion to the series that made Antonio Banderas a star comes the third in the trilogy that should have received props in a summer release, it would have done well, despite the push back to September 2003. I found the move, much better than the last Robert Rodriguez/Banderas Collabration, Spy Kids 3d a different type of action movie that should not have gotten to the big screen.
Banderas returns as EL Mariachi, the Gun Slinging guitar superhero.
Maricachi is hired by Johnny Depp, who plays a rouge CIA Agent, who likes to play both sides. He hires El Mariachi to do a job for him.
Mariachi goes in pursuit of the drug dealing Barillo, played by Willem Dafoe, who is clamoring for a shot to assasinate the president of Mexico.
Once again, reprising her role from Desperado is the character, the sexy and sultry Carolina, played by Salma Hayek, who shows why she and Antonio have perfect chemistry together. She and El Mariachi are handcuffed together, as they run from Dafoe, and a corrupt CIA agent Sands, who Mariachi enlists to get revenge and retribution against Dafoe.
Also on Board is the one and only Enrique Iglesias, who helps Mariachi as he is also a gun slinger.
He has some pretty good scenes with Banderas.
This film will be commented for its Latin Sex Appeal, with Eva Mendes, Banderas, Hayek, and Iglesias packing it in.
Once Upon a Time in Mexico is rated R for strong language and violence.
Once Upon a Time in Mexico is a very good movie getting another memorable performance for Johnny Depp, and he might get a possible Best Supporting Actor Nomination at next years oscars.
Small Spoiler: There is a scene where Depps eyes are gouged out, and he goes on a spectacular Blind Gun Fight.
Once Upon a Time in Mexico gets a phat 10

I find it hilarious I come to this board. I hardly ever watch movies. :}
I first came here cuz downloading movies was really cool, and I got everything I coudl get my hands on as I learned about newsgroups.
Haven't downloaded anything since Just Married for my brother
You are on this board because people thought that you were cool. I "adopted" you as my son cause you, me, Thug were always tight.
If you know about Desperado, the original movie, El Mariachi was the second, now this is the third in the trilogy.

Ah. Well that clarifies it a bit :}
I am somewhat familiar w/Desperado though I haven't seen it.
I'll read up on it later.
How can a film ever get a '10' if its got Enrique Iglesias in it. *shudder*

Yes I got my facts mixed up, u r right, El Mariachi was first,desperdado was second. still moviei was kick ass.
This movie rocks! Out for revenge El Mariachi strikes again, though I disliked the previous two films this has made up for them completely. The ludicrous and well played out fight scenes make for a very enjoyable expierience. And coupled with Sands' snide personality all is well.
woot, I can't wait to watch this. Review *Thumbs up* as per usual.
Well, I finally saw this movie myself. I'm not usually keen on reviews but I told someone I'd review this one.
The plot: twists and turns and manages to suck a lot.. it's like a tornado of crap.
Salma Hayek: Beautiful as ever, precious little screen time.
Antonio Banderas: Loved Desperado, but this movie is even more exaggerated, less witty and more corny.
Willem Dafoe: ARGH.. he doesn't pull off his character at all.
Johnny Depp: He's got the wit, the cool hand, and the sarcasm in this movie. His character just great even after some physical limitation at the end. Good stuff through and through.
This movie was fairly-well written. A lot of the lines will make you laugh with absurdity, others will just make you groan or shake your head. This movie lacks all the passion and strengths that made El Mariachi and Desperado great films. Over-acted deaths, bad stunts and gasoline explosions every time the tank fires just don't work like they used to on the A-Team.
I give the movie a 5 of 10. It doesn't happen often, but I feel you led us astray with this one MG.
El Mariachi was made with only $7000!!! It was a movie miracle!
Depp's character and the kid he "be-freinds" has spin-off written all over it
