Judging from the sample, I think this movie could have benefited from a 3-CD release - there are a few too many artifacts for my liking here, but overall it's very watchable.

7/8/9

edit: I did have some weird problem extracting CD2 at first.. then I restarted winrar, and it worked fine... strange.
Simply great movie btw.. I can't understand how some people could call it boring - there's action every 5 minutes! Easily beats Gladiator imo.

I've dl it... and its interlaced... badly.... but some say that there are 2 versions... actually mine didn't include subs and sample...and i thought the size is too big... 702mb... dunno what to say... maybe they mistaked the first one (mine) and they released a proper right after that...

Posted by pony_sr on 09-15-2004 06:12 AM:

hrmmm... watched the first CD- pic and audio were great..9/9, but when i went on to CD2, got a "integer divisible by zero" error.. not sure whether its an error on my end from the d\l or somthing on DoNE's side... tried to open the file in several editing programs to no avail. probably my end- ill d\l again. but great movie, and a good rip.. 9/9/9

I never got anywhere with this release either... kept getting errors when starting to play each of the .avi's....

Anyone got a solution -- excellent rip, but unable to play it...

bad second cd

Pretty poor for a DVDRip (my copy anyway)... wiSeBoy my copy also doesn't include subs and the second CD has massive green blocky things at the start before the player crashes (multiple players).. the sfv checks out fine on all rars so must be a prob with the release itself

id nuke it :/

Posted by henriklarson on 09-15-2004 06:38 PM:

i aslo could not get the cd2 play it crashes every proggram i try to openit with i guess Done could do with a few encoding tips from
Diamond or DVL

unlucky guys but i think u made a horrlicks of this

good luck in the future

only grabbed cd1 so far, but given the films length and the fact its with ac3 audio, this is quite a nice rip. i think it may have been a little smarter of done to have lowered the resolution to 608x256 like they did with day after tomorrow, but i guess i cant really complain.

noticed cd1 was 718'ish megs... is done having some problems with its file sizes? i noticed their star wars ep4 cd2 was something like 705'ish... haven't noticed any interlacing problems as someone previously mentioned, it looks generally very nice. disagree that this should have been a 3cd beast, i think by lowering it to 608x256 res, this would have worked out much nicer - but as it is, it looks very nice so far, and hey... gotta love that ac3 ....cant wait for cd2.

7.5/8/? (not seen it yet)

Yup
I am also getting an error message for CD2
Either we both dld from the same source or a fix is needed
Has anyone sucessfully watched the 2nd CD?

Just released:
Troy.DVDRip.XviD.FIX-MIGRAINE

Posted by elamericano on 09-16-2004 06:06 AM:

Looks good to me, dl 2 cds, no problems with either CD 1 or CD 2, I think you guys are picking up fake versions, no blocking, no green, no interlaced nothing wrong with it
Video 8 (looks a little rough, but still excelent)
Audio 10 (ac3 ownz with this movie, especially during the action sequences)
Movie ? ( I have not watched it, just skipped through for error checking and to make sure it was complete)
Subs are online at the usual places for the foreign users

cd2 pauses for a second, then continues playing. if your too lazy to download the fix, just slice off the first second with nandub, and it should work just fine.

anyway now that i have it all, i can say that yes it is kinda blocky at times, especially in darker scenes, but this is kinda unavoidable due to the LONG running time, and i wouldn't want this film released without the ac3 sound, so ill stick with my original statement of this being better if it had been on a lower 608x256 res.

colours (naturally) vibrant, picture quality (unavoidably) blocky at times during dark scenes, esp. fighting, but very watchable, and sound is perfect. i dont really see the need for a proper of this, and i doubt many could do it better on 2 cd, so this is worth grabbing. my vote hasn't changed, 7.5/8/?

Yet to watch it all and I agree that a 3rd CD would've been good. If you go by the rule of thumb of 10MB per minute, 2CD's or 1400MB falls short by about 200MB.

It definitely needed an extra 700MB.

The problem with CD2 is it didn't get cut at a key frame. The file will work fine if it's joined together. Or like chiv said, you could cut a bit off, manually.

I might be harsh, but I would certainly expect a release group to cut the file properly, even in their haste to get it out there. Even Auto Gordian Knot manages to cut files at the correct places

Posted by Flain on 09-16-2004 06:30 PM:

is it just me or is the motion also kinda crappy? its like its ripped at 15fps or something...

I managed to find the version that includes the subs but its basically the same thing.

not the quality id expect from a DVDRip :/

no problems here with cd2 or cd1 I maybe got a fix copy. good video and Audio. dunno. anyways.....

Video: 7 - bit degraded in part's but overall very watchable
Audio: 9 - AC3 as it should be, sounded great through my speakers
Film: 8 - really enjoyed it, definitely lived up to the hype.

MiGRAiNE put a fix out because there is a definite problem with CD2. It's only a minor problem though. For example, if I play CD2 in Zoom Player, it pauses for a moment. If I play CD2 in MPlayer it gives a header damage error (meaning the file wasn't cut at the proper interval).

There's no interlacing or green stuff for me, but I would imagine that in some media players that greeness might show up, but only at the beginning of CD2.

I got my files from a reliable source too. ALL in their original RAR packs

Anyhow, considering BT has corruption correction, I would consider it a good source also, as long as the correct files are seeded from the beginning.

-edit: after watching the whole movie, this is really more than I was expecting for a movie this length. However, CD2 in particular has the most dark scenes in it and so you can see quite a lot of blocks, as others have said.

Posted by macca1969 on 09-19-2004 01:33 PM:

Video 9
audio 9.5
Movie 8

Video: is pretty good had a few green blocks at start of cd2 only lasted seconds. no big probs

Audio: was top notch gotta love ac3.

Movie: to my surprise really enjoyed the movie a good ole epic
Nice.
