Finally

Been waiting for this for some time now.. Extended Edition Box Set for Xmas anyone?

From Sample1 (there's 3) :

Same quality as the previous 2 EE releases.. does the job very nicely wish the audio was a bit louder though (could be just me!). will watch the whole thing tonight.. its 2am and time for sleep.

9/9/?

Hmmz there is something strange with sample...
It has a bitrate of 1100kbit/sec (voor video). But look at this:
Audio stream = 448kbit/sec
Video stream = ??kbit/sec
3 cd's = 2150400kB = 17203200kb
17203200kb - (448*251*60) = 10456320kb for video stream.
10456320kb = (x * 251 * 60)
x = 694kbit/sec
So for video you have 694kbit/sec left with 3 cd's...

Why if you have the dvd in your hands try to make a 3cd's rip instead of 4???

Anyway 7/8/10

No, elvish was always hardsubbed.
(And other alien tongues, too.)

you're right. keep in mind video is variable bit rate. the sample has more motion than average and therefore has higher bitrate allocated to it. this is the idea behind variable bit rate.

so no problems there.

I think i'll wait for the DVDr

the exception of the video tilt

if video was striaghter i'd give it a higher rating..

My rating is based on a TS..not camparing it to anyother type of release.. e.g. cam,dvd rip, screener, etc... -Quote by Naught1

Have to say the sound is a little low, but other than that great release.

8/7/10

Posted by pHo on 12-04-2004 12:51 AM:

with decent hardware, sound is never too low unless there's a major error its probably just the way it is on the disc as i'm sure there's sections that are much louder than the average. hence you need to lower the average to accomodate these. i'd much rather turn the dial slightly higher on my amp (its rarely over a quarter of the way up, never more than a third) than have an artificial boost myself.

well after joining this with virtual dub mod i found theres an overlap at all joins which knocks the sync out guess ill have to wait fot the dvdr

This looks good using a projector and 95" screen. Obviously really soft, but that is to be expected from XviD, nothing to be done about it.

F DVDR. For this movie, retail is the only way to go. The pre is great to wet the appetite though.

Overlap and low video Bit Rate

Having joined [with no sync problems to report] I find a very visible overlay between CDs. Very irritating. I was expecting better.

Plus I'm using G-Spot here and its telling me that the second disk has a far higher video bit rate than the other two disks [which makes sense given that the middle disk is considerably shorter]. I've done the maths with a few bitrate calc and it all adds up.

What were they thinking? It can't be that they cut the parts where the scenes end, since the overlap skipping occurs in the middle of scenes.

That all said, plenty of extra bits so I'll happily buy the DVD.

Hmm isn't the extended version about +4 hours ?!?
Checked it and can't really see any new scenes, have u guys seen any?
Usually these should be 4 disc's or even 5 for such a long movie with so much details.
Is it supposed to be the short version but from the extended box set? Just asking.
