So with this movie now so close to release...

Do I go and get the comic series FIRST since I know absolutely nothing about the story at all OR do I watch the movie and then go read the comic...????

I'm not a comic book "nerd" but I always kind of wished I was...it was just a thing I kinda skipped over in my childhood.

Anyways I can't help be pretty excited for this movie just knowing about the "comic nerd" fanfare surrounding it all.

So to all who have or do read comics: Do I call the local comic shop and have them get me a copy of the set, or do I go see the movie first?

Also here's the awesome trailer that got me so pumped before watching the movie PUSH.

Go to your local comic store and get the paperback. I bought it on Amazon after seeing the first trailer for Watchmen and loved it. Probably enhance your enjoyment of the movie.

I bought 2 sets of original prints on e-bay in about 2001...one to read, one to keep in mint. Hoping the movie will be as huge as expected...for my pocket as well as artistic reasons.

(Also have 2 unopened boxes of limited edition Spidey cards from 1995 with McFarlane artwork...have never had them valued...could be worth a few pennies now.)

wouldn't build your hopes up, hollywood tends to fuck these things up spectacularly, I read the graphic novel of wanted which was brilliant, the film was the biggest pile of shit I saw last year and bore absolutely no similarity to the book other than the title.

People from Bradford can read?

(being a Barnsley lad living in Wakefield I get to say that... Most of the people in Wakefield have 11 toes on each hand )

Back on topic - the trailer looks pretty damned good so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Lots of decent-looking action movies coming up though and no doubt most of them will turn out to suck...

... I'd comment on the "graphic novel" but last time I read a comic I was 10 and it was The Beano*

lol, I was gonna put comic but being nearly 40 I thought it best to put graphic novel, it makes me sound sophisticated ( you could even think I was from Barnsley/Wakefield except I dont have enough digits)

I read the Watchmen comic/graphic novel and was like, well...meh? Obviously since its so highly rated I don't think comics are my thing.

Man you're old!!!

Remember a buddy having some of the comics, read a few but never really got into them though they were pretty interesting. Comics just were never my thing. But the movie does look pretty good from what I've seen in the trailers.

If you are able to keep your expectations from the book to a minimum, its a quality film. however if you are a rabid fan it might be disappointing to an extent.

If you are talking about CAMERA's rls, don't bother, its a fucking hideous cam.

Posted by HoldDaSalad on 03-08-2009 03:37 AM:

I just checked out the Sample. It's not as bad as it could be. It's not a good cam either. I'd wait for a better release or go to the theater to fucking see it.

Why would anyone watch a cam of this movie (or 300, or Sin City, or any Pixar, or...or...)?

Wait for a rip at worst or preferably DVD/x264/HD.

Or, seriously, download the fucking cbr for CDisplay - and that will explain better than I can why this should be seen unpixelated, full screen, correctly lit, and in vivid and perfect-tone colours - or get your fucking arse to a cinema.

A cam of Watchmen...seriously?!?
