Watermark that is blurred does not stay on for the whole movie. But the blurring does.. that is what you get when you want it done fast.. hope someone proper this.. although no "rules" have been broken.

Posted by Mailman on 12-26-2007 01:50 PM:

Nice coup in grabbing this scr, but when will anyone learn to stop blurring the the damn words???? Other then the stupidity of blurring, even when it's not needed, it's a good copy with nice audio and video.

V-7.5(rated for the porn blurrs)
A-9
M-7.5

No offense, Cr, but it seems to me you haven't been too pleased when people have flamed you on other posts, and here you are implying superiority because of a plasma tv, that most pc viewers are potential idiots, and some further superiority in rating screeners...

My personal opinion, screener or not, is that the upper central watermark ruined the picture. It would've been better if it wasn't blurred.
To clue in those who haven't seen the sample or video - there were two blurred out watermarks or times - a long one at the bottom and a smaller one dead low center in the picture. Its like watching the movie with a blurred out head in front of you, and unlike a lot, MAYBE MOST, screeners this one seemed really distracting. Its my personal opinon, for what its worth.

v: 8.5 for picture quality but unwatchable because of the watermarks.
a:9 solid

m: I started and didn't bother. There will be a better release.

Thanks to DoNE for the great release. I presume the blurring was done for security reasons, but if there's a choice, perhaps better to leave the watermarks alone.

From skimming the movie and rating as a SCR. Spot blurring as noted and for a purpose as noted. Latter is right on perhaps. Still bothersome. Audio good quality as expected. Movie? 95% Rotten Tomatoes. IMDb 8.9/10 and on its best movie of all time list #14. Ebert 4 out of 4. Say no more and chuckle when others do. A must watch and will so now do.

8/8/?

Movie as reviews suggest but still found the ending a little odd. 9.0

Posted by carolinawolf on 12-26-2007 06:54 PM:

Yes it has two blurred watermarks.
wish it didn't but it does.

I can put up with them, it's less distracting to me than a bunch of numbers changing through out the whole video.

audio is good for me.

and video is good other than the blurred out spots.

plain to see from where the blurred out spots are it's a workprint not a screener.
well as i have read in some other posts maybe they are there for another reason. but i have seen many a workprint with numbers in the same spots. guess it doesn't make a lot of difference the spots are still there.

there will be many a person watch it and be glad they found something as good as this.
beats the socks off a cam.
as everybody knows something better will be out one day, but i will watch this one.for now, worry later.
watched a few minutes and didn't hurt me at all.

V-7.5
A-8
M-?

When groups put a blur throughout the whole movie it is to protect themselves and their source. If the serial only periodically shows up that's great but alot of times it is put in at times maybe not noticeable to the naked eye. Keeping the blur there the whole movie only insures that it's not visible 100% of the time. For a movie that just come out and it being oscar season i'm pleased to have it with the blur rather than nothing. I love the Coen brothers.

V-8
A-8
M- will watch in a bit

Video quality is comparable to a good TS. On top of that you had the blurred stuff.

Very good movie. One of the best I've seen in a while.

V 5
A 7
M 10

Posted by kevin1st on 12-26-2007 09:35 PM:

V - 7 picture is pretty good but the blurred serials are a tad annoying (especially for a movie this visually rich)
A - 8 scanned through it and it seemed okay with no sync issues.
M - 10 fucking awesome movie.

I suggest your new year resolution is to book an appointment with an optometrist.

This is a great 'DVD screener' although I get the impression that this is actually a workprint rather than a final print of the movie.

Either way it's far better than the only other available copy.

if you drone on about your magical widescreen tv and you supposed codec knowledge in one more bloody thread, i will fucking puke.....

V-7 (mainly because of the inconveniently placed blur)
A-7
M-7.5 (great atmosphere, interesting villian, wasn't crazy about the ending tho)

there is a much better quality version of this that has no blurring, no serials, no timers, only a few "property of's" that come and go a few times. i agree with said post that this looks alot more like a WP than a dvd scr.
I say this because after watching the better version, that one looks alot more like a dvd scr.

this release rated as dvd scr:

v-6 blurry, annoyances
a-7 not impressed, not bad either
m-10

Very well said!!!!

V-8 - would be hire but once again the blurs come into effect

pretty clear nice copy v8/a8/9

Posted by six six six on 12-27-2007 07:49 AM:

Blurring where it is not needed is not exactly a bad idea. Groups have slipped up in the past and left serials in, so if they're all in the same spot why not constantly keep the same spot blurred in order to keep something from accidentially slipping through?

V: 8
A: 7
M: 7

All in all a release worth watching.
