ive recently started getting this error message pop up on my screen saying

the file or directory C:\$extend\$objId is corrupt and unreadable please run the chkdsk utility

start/run/chkdsk is what i did and i still get the message wtf i going on ? this is what the little shit looks like

i get that error everytime i open a program i have no idea what im doing so i thought id post it in the hope you can help me below is the rootkit revealer and what chkdsk says

There's some weird-sounding stuff in there but the only spyware-specific one I can spot is the reference(s) to dlp.dll which you should remove. Most of the other stuff appears to be a total mishmash of software including stuff for your Fuji camera... In other words, your Windows startup is pretty messy, probably slowing your PC down (a lot) and probably a reason for it acting weird. Messenger Plus also comes packaged with Spyware, avoid it.

My best advice is to launch a barrage of Anti Spyware tools at that bastard... Create a system restore point then - Start scanning with Windows Defender, move to Spybot Search and Destroy and finally AdAware. Once you've finished all that, scan your registry for invalid references, you may already have Registry Mechanic (it comes with PC Tools which you have installed, I think) or you could grab TuneUp Utilities 2006 if you want something beefier.

... Bottom line is, I can't see any obvious spyware but you may be having "hangover" from a previous "malware" infestation.

... Also, allow chkdsk to run next time you reboot by selecting "Y"

WTF happened here?

Rarely do i power down the PC but the last 2 days its been off.
Switched it on today and it looks like its almost lost one of the HD's.

i switched it to 'Active' thinking that may help but it didnt.
As you can see its lost the NTSF bit ???

Is it fucked, can i just do a few clicks and its fixed or do i need to try n recover the Data?

Arthur... Open up a command prompt and type:

"chkdsk /f e:" and if it wants you to, reboot and let the chkdsk run (chances are, it wont want to reboot)...

... You OS not knowing what file system a drive is using isn't a good thing, you may find yourself rescuing as much as you can off that drive before fully formatting it.

me thinks that should be "chkdsk e: /r"
might take a bit of time, but also if you have a copy of hiren's boot disk, and if you dont you should have one, boot from that and run HDD Regenerator on the drive, will also correct any bad sectors...

There's also lots of free iPod stuff Arthur, including a nice WinAmp plugin so you can export WA playlists and stuff from the library straight to the iPod - have a look on www.sourceforge.org
