Just learn to use TMPGEnc and then you can make your own rips instead of the 2.4 GB download of yet another SVCD rip. This one looks good, but who knows. I used the RFtA DivX rip and it was fine. I dont download SVCD DVDrips, I encode them myself. Do whatever you want, if you are a newb then get the SVCD ones if you aren't then get the DivX version that hasnt been nuked like all the other releases.

What the hell are you thinking suggesting to recode from DivX to SVCD... LMAO. You saying the word Newbie is an Oxymoron, Why waste your time encoding uit

If people did that every release would be nuked for poor quality.

I counted 3, workprint/telecine/screener... the dutch version wasn't by TCF but I guess mods thought it was and what does that comment have to do with this release? I also agree that encoding divx to svcd is a bad idea, no way in hell can the results be nearly as good as directly from the DVD. Silly rabbit, tricks are for kids.

agreed. there's a reason that divx-->svcd rips are scoffed upon in the scene, the main one being quality is shit. if you always reencode divx-->svcd backoff you must not care about how good something can look if done correctly.

OK tell me something then you guys... why are all of the SVCD rips always nuked? When I searched for this movie in www.packetnews.com I came up with a tons of the DivX release and a NO SVCD DVDrips, there are a few DVDscreeners, but no DVDrips. If the DivX is so bad then why hasnt it been nuked? I also like 2 hour downloads instead of 6 hour downloads for movies. I see no problem with my DivX releases, sometimes they are better than SVCD releases. DivX is nuked alot less than SVCD. So just shut up. Because apparently my DivX releases are of better quality than your SVCD releases because they arent nuked.

Talking

I agree a divx svcd conversion is an atrocity. Divx/Xivd itself is great in fact I'd say my mpeg4 stuff looks a lot nicer than my mpeg2 stuff bitrate for bitrate. If I really want to watch it on my dvd player I just convert it to a high bitrate mpeg2 4000Kilobits+

Mpeg4 rules, mpeg2 is great and mpeg1 sucks. Mpeg4s are often fucked up trying to fit them on 1cd or poor encoding.

PS. Packetnews rules, My downloader comes second, link from this vcdquality. I might be a newbie but at least I know how to spell Elite.

you sir, are a retard. just because a DiVX release isn't nuked and an svcd release is does not mean your DiVX-->SVCD encode is going to be good quality. i don't even want to know what kind of screwed up logic led you to believe such a thing. don't you think that if divx-->svcd produced a better quality product than a dvd-->svcd encode there would be groups dedicated to re-encoding a divx and releasing it to the scene?

if you don't have something smart to say, don't say anything at all.

on another note, you finding lots of divx releases and no svcd releases of this movie on www.packetnews.com means jackshit to anyone who can understand the difference in quality derived from dvd->svcd and divx->svcd. in fact, packetnews.com implies that you are more of a newbie/lamer/<insert adjective here> douchebag than some of us.

Being a "Packetnews using lamer", I still understand the difference in quality between a divx -> svcd encode and a dvd -> svcd encode. Just cos some people don't spend half their life downloading films, don't assume they know shit-all.

On the same note, I used to work for Blockbuster video and do my own rips of dvd's, I use to encode to divx (version 3... it was a while back I worked there!), roughly encoding so that the films would fit on two discs. This suited me fine as I used my TV-Out to watch the films.

However when I wanted to watch the films at my mates I had no choice but to rip them to svcd and, yes, divx to svcd ISN'T as good as DVD to svcd BUT done right, the quality itself isn't that different to the original divx encode. And I suppose, if you had a crap connection (Which I'm unfortunately lumbered with) then it may be quicker to download a divx rip then convert to svcd. You're not gonna be losing out much on quality.

And on a second note, I realise this is vcdquality.com and not divx-digest.com so I'm gonna shut up and go and have a look on packetnews for Ballistic DVD rip whilst downloading a few music tracks off kazaa.

Oh and no-one call me a n00b, that word is stupid, everyone's gotta start somewhere.

OK I understand that straight to SVCD is better. I will give you that. I think the DivX encodes are great. If you can really see a big difference between the DivX and SVCD encodes than get the one you like best. I am on good cable, but most servers I get to that dont have 99 person queues dont upload near 100+ kb/s so I would just as soon get the DivX than the SVCD. I guess I will end it now. You are right and I was wrong quit the fucking flaming of my message because I am admitting it. I am sure you were new to this sometime too. So give me a break. I dont understand why you fucking people have to be so violent. Jesus christ it is a fucking opinion and you sound like you want to just kill me right here. Not everyone is a 1337 person like you who gets all whenever and calls people newbs to cover up his own problems like living with his moms basement. Just get a fucking life. That is all I have to say. If you flame this message that just shows you have too much free time and need to get a job.

LMAO you guys are so pathetic.. calling eachother names because of some release.. jeez man.

If a release is good > fine.. enjoy
If a release is bad> too bad, note whats wrong and wait for something better
If a release is watchable > download if you like or not

complain about mistakes all you want but most people her reall have no life.. they would even kill for their favourite release group it seems..

and those stupid americans that think german = dutch and that they speak dutch in denmark..

german is spoken in germany, danish in denmark and dutch in the netherlands you patriotic fools.

Just get the PAL DVDR if you want quality, it was released by a group called EFTERLYST. Otherwise a ntsc one should be out soon too.
