lets get serious.... daredevil isn't going to "flop".... i wouldn't mind seeing it- as the cominc books were some of the best around. all of the films that will come out in the near future should be at least do decently number-wise. - there haven't been many decent movies in the theaters recently- last movie i saw was TTT. unless you're a big fan of maid in manhattan or crap like that, then it'll be nice to have a few decent movies to go see

i believe it will have an incredible weekend turnout, building off spiderman's comicbook hype. This being regardless of reviews. It may flop critically, but will generate the numbers the box office cares about.

I think daredevil will not flop it's gonna do well. People want to see the whole comic book gone big screen movie. Superman, Batman, X-men, and Spiderman did so well, this movie is going to be right up there.

Don't feed box office results by watching DareDevil opening weekend!

Okay, early reviews are in... and I was right. The movie sucks! Score: 2.5 stars out of 5.0 stars

Look here:
http://movie-reviews.colossus.net/m.../daredevil.html

Comparisons are made to horrible "The Fantastic Four" movie!

Right...Well i've now read 14 reviews (Including Moviegods) and yours is the only one i've seen thats had a negative tint. To be honest the reviews i've read have also come from....shall we say... more established reviewers.

I take that review with a pinch of salt. I'm still looking forward to seeing it on Thursday night!

i watched the first half of the movie form the UTi release, and yeah, it's cheesy as hell, but it's just so damn fun because everyone loves superheroes don't they. You just can't say no..

Comic book movie adaptations have been going on for ages. Dick Tracy and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were comic books but did anybody have a problem with them? TMNT & Batman movies kept getting worse and worse yet they kept making them.

Based on what I've seen of Daredevil (trailers & clips, don't wanna see the rest until I see it in theatres) I'll say it'll be a good superhero movie, up there with the first Batman. It might not do well in the theatres but Spider-Man made up for that

I saw 30 mins of this movie and I was a little disappointed. I guess Im going to use spiderman as an example when I watch these comic book movies. But really bad lines and the fire with the double DD...oh boy, I was shaking my head two or three times and I didnt get that far in. I cant make a full judgement yet, but clearly so far to me it is no spiderman...or x-men.

One-line reviews from our own members:

"OMFG DOES THIS MOVIE SUCK!"

"Nice movie." (Just nice. Not awesome.)

"it's cheesy as hell..."

"The movie sucks..."

"movie isn't that bad." (in other words, it was "okay")

"...the movie was very dark and boring, i fell asleep after cd2 ...it was very booring."

"...disappointed ...it is no spiderman...or x-men."

And there you have it. Notice nobody has said it kicked ass.

And while I respect MovieGod's opinion, our very own Mystic Slippers has his opinion too. Link to review: http://www.vcdquality.com/forum/sho...&threadid=15095

And he says, "Daredevil is a joke. I HATE this movie and quite frankly i NEVER EVER want to see it again. EVER."

Based on 5 things:

1) Ben Affleck is effeminate and a poor casting choice for a masculine superhero such as DareDevil. Any male Ben Affleck fans are latent homosexuals. Search your feelings Luke, you know this to be true!

2) Michael Clarke Duncan can't help but sound retarded. This works to his disadvantage here because villians with Down's Syndrome just aren't threatnening. Uh, Mista Luthor? Mista Luthor?

3) Colin Farrell is too scrawny an actor to look bad ass with a skinned head. Look at his puny arms next to his trying-to-look-like-Ed-Norton-American-History-X bald head and leather vest. lol. The look just doesn't work for him. What's worse is that it's a clown's bald skin cap. He didn't even shave his head for the role. lol. real tough guy. The only reason he wanted the role is because he's friends with both the director and Affleck and he wanted to take a break from 'serious' roles.

4) Daredevil's costume design is made-for-tv-movie laughable. Batman = excellent. Spider-Man = excellent. DareDevil = what happened?

5) Written & Directed by the same guy who brought us the Grumpy Old Men movies, Big Bully (Tom Arnold movie), and Jack Frost.

I think it will get a lot of movie in box office but I dunno how great the movie actually is, it has some good actors. Anyone thats seen the telesync please let us know how THE MOVIE was.

Posted by Pra3t0 on 02-14-2003 04:22 PM:

The movie is averaging a grade of "C" based on all the national reviews:

http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&i...=critic&intl=us

Which is exactly the grade I'd give it after watching it last night. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either.

Posted by Levangles on 02-20-2003 01:29 AM:

movie is kinda dull- ben afflect licks some serious chode... not an action actor at all. michael clarke duncan is the only reason i enjoyed it (and because that chick is hot - but still an awful actress). duncan didn't fit the role, but he's a beauty anyways. really not an overly interesting movie
to sum up possitive things:
-chick who can't act is hot
-clarke duncan's a beauty
-the soundtrack is very very nice
negative things:
-story licks
-acting/casting truly awful
-just ridiculous in general -- stick with spidey or xmen, maybe even batman!

I thought this post was about how the movie would do in the theatres, in other words, would it be a flop. I'll let the numbers decide:

Weekend of Feburary 14-17
Position - No. 1
Movie - Daredevil
Weekend Gross - $45,033,454
Number of Theatres - 3471
Average theatre take - $12,974
Weeks in release - 1
Total gross - $45,033,454

Number one for this past weekend. You decide if it was a "flop" or not.

I for one downloaded it and have yet to watch it, but will after I move into my new built house next weekend and setup my entertainment system.

It DID do well, didn't it?

Damn! (snaps fingers)

And I was hoping it would fail miserably.

I would be pleasantly surprised if either "Gods and Generals" or "The Life of David Gale" knocks it out of the top spot this weekend... but I doubt that will happen. (I hope I'm wrong though.)

Pra3t0 , Daredevil was great. I don't know why you have it in for this movie so bad. This movie was better than Spiderman. The special effects didn't have that fake look like Spidey jumping from building to building. A better story too. Ben Affleck nailed Matt Murdock as the flawed blind superhero. A great love story between Murdock and Elektra. Something tells me she's back in Daredevil 2. For anyone thinking about seeing it. Definitely do so. Watch it in a theater with digital sound too. A great movie!
