The Oscar thing is a joke. Was it last year(don't mind remembering because it doesn't men anything but bizniz) when Denzel and Halle got it? Denzel was so wrong for the part and not believeble. Halle overacted her way thru a really shitty movie also. But hey, that's just my opinion.

Okay, I lied. I will never be watching The Pianist. In fact, I find it very telling that the folks at The Oscars will most likely be trashing the President but honoring a convicted child molester. This bit's for Roman Polanski (those of you interested in his story, check out www.thesmokinggun.com)....I hope you rot.

Now! On to my picks.

Best Song: U2 - The Hands the Built America

Best Score: Road To Perdition - Thomas Newman

Best Costume Design: Gangs of New York

Damn, Ian McKellen was fucking robbed! Oh well, they better give Peter Jackson the award for best director. Think about it. He's made 3 (we can assume it will be great, they were filmed at the same time and same style) excellent films. He needs an award besides special effects.
Chicago should win this year. I loved it, read the signature! Lol. I wasn't crazy bout' The Hours but thought Nicole Kidman was great. On Chicago, Renee is a much better singer than Catherine Zeta-Jones. I thought LOTR: TTT was great, and better than FOTR, but it was not the best film of the year. If Chicago brings back the musicals, then it should be awarded Best Picture. After all, they say the best film is awarded to the "film that has the biggest impact on hollywood." If it brings back musicals, that's a huge impact. Other than that, Adaptation would be my next choice. What more has a bigger impact in hollywood than a funny great movie about movie making itself!

I'm happy Adrian won too!! Yee-hah!

I thought Jack would win just as a body-of-work kind of thing... but secretly I wanted Adrian Brody to win!

And Roman Polanski won Best Director! Too bad Chicago got Best Picture. I thought it was the 2nd to worst film in the category. The Hours being the worst. But at least The Pianist won best adapted screenplay. Yay!

Posted by kalvaitis007 on 03-24-2003 06:32 AM:

Yes, let us all gather around and cheer the fact that a child molestor and a fugitive from justice won best director! Woo Hoo!!! And Michael Moore, one ham sandwich away from dying like Mamma Cass, won too! I'm glad Hollywood has shown us just how in touch they are with America. And these fucks wonder why people don't wanna pay for the shit they spew.

I mean, honestly. ROMAN POLANSKI is R Kelly or Michael Jackson without the blackness (check the link!) and they cheer for this creep? He's lower than low....he's sub-human. The fundementalists that hate us because of our culture might be on to something. Our culture does suck, and these fuckers are Public Enemies Number one when it comes to polluting it with trash, violence, sexism, an amoral behaviour not seen since Caligula.

Chuck D had it right, "BURN HOLLYWOOD, BURN!"

Chicago is an adaptation of a play. Not much creative about it at all. I cant understand how it won. It just shows you that the academy wanted to give it to a musical. All I know is that if Lord Of The Rings doesnt win next year....Im never watching another Academy Awards show again. It deserved it this year....and last. So far one of the greatest movies of all time has nothing to show for it. In my mind Lord Of The Rings is a classic movie , one that will be shown from generation to generation. It deserves the best picture nod.

Roman Polanski is a good director, The pianist is the best film i've seen for quite some time, and truly deserves awards..

I dont really give a flying shit about his personal life, when it comes to judging films and directing talent

p.s. Mikey Moore is fun

That is 100% sick. The guy raped a 13 year old. He should be in jail. I'm suprised you don't see what's going on here, Dawgy. If Hitler and Goebbels were alive to day to produce and direct a period piece about WWII they'd have about a 7 to 3 shot at getting an Oscar.
