The WP never ends or starts (sometimes) like it always should, I give good respect for the early release, the counters don't have to worry bout, movie fans by now should be used to it, nothing unique or special. Well to make a long story short; I give for audio a 8, very superb and nice crisp sound, as for video I give it a 7 since its a little blur, not too much though. And finally the movie overall about a 7 aswell, I mean just cause it's a kids movie doesnt mean i wont enjoy it ... also the fact that the movie seems to be much better when u know your watching it before theatrical release date

Mad props to VideoCD, try to work on a little bit on the encoding and well....you'll do just fine... Laterz

I wattched a little bit of this movie and I liked the video and the sound...but damn there are alot of counters going on.....I know thats what you get with a workprint. Still I think a great pre.

Quality and sound are very watchable, but is this the final workprint? Either it lacked some storylines and a few bad edits in it, or i missed somthing.... if this is final, well, the writer and editor need a few leasons on film..... Either way, i watched it all the way through, and it could of been 10x better.

I saw a sneak preview of this movie on Monday, and I can tell you that this workprint is quite different from the finished version of the film. Like someone else said, the ending is different, and also the violent scenes are much bloodier than what ended up in the final version. I guess they had to tone down some of the blood and the gore to get a PG-13 rating, especially in the scene where the rats attack Willard's boss. So you might want to download this as a curiosity, since I don't know if those scenes will ever end up on the DVD. It's a bit like the early workprint of "One Hour Photo" that had the ending of the movie at the beginning instead of the end.

Looks like the single workprint from last year

LoL, This movies #$%& right up, but good job VideoCD, keep it up. 7/6/6

audio is good, video is crap, but still better than TMD, hehe. with TMD releases in mind even this quality will appear to you as perfect.

something else: some of you above have said that the movie had no story line. have you actually watched the movie? because if you say it has no story line, you are either incredibly dumb, or you have missed 99% of it. The whole movie is very metaphorical - just look at the two mice as the opposition of good and evil, or reason and insanity. just a starting point to get you going. one could analyse the symbols and metaphors for hours. I wouldn't go so far to call the movie intelligent, because the metaphors are too conventional and too obvious, yet at the same time they work on multiple levels, all characters representing many different issues, up to the level of allegory.
so take another look.

ALL the TEXT...... UGH!

Picture is nice, BUT the "counter + prev + PO # + Prop Of" TEXT that surrounds the picture is annoying.

Sound is good.

Overall story is lame, just another horror remake from past movies.

[5.5/6.8/4.5] So if all the teXt doesn;t bother you & don't mind a basic horror flick then see it. If not wait for a better vhs/dvd-screener.

is this version the final print that made it to theaters? The commercial has a few spots that arent in the final movie.

SPOILER ALERT!!

there are missing scenes and different scenes. the ending is missing. when the shadow of the rat is in the window the guy comes up and kills him. there are 2 scenes missing from the wp that are in the movie and all the bloody scenes are a lot less bloody in the movie. like the scene when the guy is in the elevator and he is squrting blood... that one was cut short and when big ben attacks willard they cut out the squirting blood

You mean in the theatre version the guy kills Ben in the end?! but this is so senseless. The idea of the movie is that the man falls prey to his bad desires - Ben represents them. First he is able to resist, as long as his mother and the white mouse are alive (they both represent Willard's sanity and the good side of his character). eventually, when the white mouse and Willard's mother are dead, there is nothing left to protect Willard from his bad desires, and eventually they take over and destroy him. however, if Willard kills Ben, then the film becomes completely senseless. I guess the producers made this to make more money at the theatres, but this just again shows that Hollywood is only interested in money, not in films that make sense. If it's really true what you say, then I am glad that I could see the original version and don't have to see the stupid version where Ben is killed.
as far as the blood issue is concerned: I think it's really disgusting, maybe it was a good idea to reduce the amount of horror/blood. who wants to see rats eating a man? disgusting..

Also there are some scenes in this workprint that I don't remember being in the final version (although it's possible I could just be forgetting them). There are a few extra scenes with Willard and the girl he works with, where she is trying to talk to him and get to know him better. These scenes seemed to be trying to show a "softer" side to Willard's character. I guess they cut this because they realized no one really gives a crap about a love story in a movie like this, they just want to see rats attack people.

Workprint has different ending

Didn't know if anyone knows this, but the workprint has a different ending than the theatrical release. It gives the ending a completely different feel. Also, I never saw Crispin say "kill him till he dies" in the theatrical version. I had been waiting for it too, since I heard everyone talking about it. There's also some extra/extended scenes on the workprint that aren't in the theatrical. Just a little FYI.
