D'huh! it's great quality. An 80 minute movie should fit into 1 CD. They made it 2 sure the quality is grate.

Btw, if you haven't noticed, it's PAL. Wouldnt' u wait for NTSC?

an 80 minute VCD would fit on 1CDR, an 80 minute DVDRIP SVCD would only fit on an 80 minute CDR only if the average bitrate was around 1167kbit which is unacceptable. Btw, Fsckin' great quality and it doesn't matter that it's PAL! My dvd players can handle it

Dudes, this is *not* great quality. I just burned the sample and played on my TV. It's off aspect ratio. Yes the movie is 2.30:1 but the people are schetched out (they look fatter). The quality isnt that good, we see big muskitos pixels.

7/7/x

i see alotta straight 10's on here, and consider me another one

took me a few long hours to find, and i'm kicking my own ass for just getting the screener last week, but worth the wait / wasted discs for sure. i don't even see a retail date on imdb, so this must be uber early...

i'm a PAL fan as well, btw...

Get your tv/dvdplayer fixed. This release is nigh on perfect. Sound excellent, video excellent. Best an svcd can be. What makes you want to bad mouth it so much?

newb. how wrong you are.
perfect rip. it doesnt get any better in svcd form. this is the best svcd can get as far as a rip goes. (funny how you rate audio a 7, too. whats your reasoning for that? you want 5.1? not gonna happen on svcd.)

I guess you're not familiar with PAL and NTSC formats... There's nothing wrong with the aspect ratio.. IT's that the format is PAL.. I honestly wish two SVCD releases would be made when groups rip the dvd.. that way both sides of the atlantic would have the opportunity to watch the film without re-encoding the source and loosing quality in the process...

For those people that live in Europe/Asia maybe PAL is nice but for us folk that don't most NTSC TV's are not set up to convert PAL source to play properly on an NTSC TV... So for the north americaners who want to watch an SVCD rip on anything other than a computer then NO it's not better.. http://pt.zkiller.de/uploads/rant8.gif

His reasoning is that the SVCD rip is in PAL format and that it won't play correctly on NTSC TV sets...

I'm in California (North America , dur) with a... Pioneer DV-434/Apex AD-5131/Sony DVP-NS715P and all of them play PAL format (VCD/SVCD/XVCD) perfectly on every TV I've tried it on. Maybe older TV's don't convert them properly but I haven't had a problem since 1998.
