i disagree. whenever someone says "new punk sucks." they always list bands like Blink, Sum41 etc. whoever said they were punk?! nobody! theres some awesome bands out there... Against Me, Strike Anywhere, Hot Water Music to name but three. anything on No Idea records is guaranteed to destroy these pop bands preconceptions that they were anything but MTV poster boys.

Agreed with pHo. Good Charlotte, Box Car Racer/Blink 182, Sum 41, New Found Glory...they aren't punk. They are "wannabe" punks. Good Charlotte grew up in the same place where I live-Friendship Heights. Their old stuff was ok. Then one of the members joined Wakefield (who are a pretty decent punk band, cd came out tuesday) and the band hit it big with "Little Things" but they still wnted to be considered punk so Beni or whatever the fucker's name is got his tattoos, spiked hair, long baggy pants with chains, etc...just to look "punk." A week ago I saw them in a Mexican restaurant in sweatshirts, looking non-punkish, and the spiked hair wasn't even up. FAKE. They aren't punk. The popular bands that try to look punkish and suck will never be PUNK. Rancid/NOFX/The Ataris/The YYY's/Interpol/AFI's old stuff/the bands pHo mentioned...well...that's true punk.

no, you both are wrong. true punk is always punk, but the wannabe punk is the NEW PUNK, and it is categorized as punk, no matter if you think it is... it IS punk in the now... but i agree... it is not TRUE PUNK... it's wannabe garbage...

you only have to be in the category to be something... you don't actually have to BE it

Its very surpriseing how many people on this board are perfectly willing to arbitrarily label and then hate some general group of people. I know that if someone tried to call some of you "nerds" or "males" and placed generalized negative sterotypes on you, you would be really pissed.

It is also quite amazing how some people are able to distort the content of a thread as if it was a personal strike against thier very soul, and then feel the need to attack like a wounded dog. Just the very mention of 'sXe' has produced the "you cant tell me what to do man" speechs. No one ever said you couldnt do anything on here! who are you argueing with! hahah
