not up to usual ctp standards
video sharp but over saturated, but audio was kind of annoying, especially on disc 2 dialog was muffled/distoreted and i had to turn it up pretty loud to be able to understand everything. Movie was entertaining but basically just a music video
7/6/5

Video as usual very good for a TS.
Audio as usual very good for a centropy release.
Movie bad as expected...

GREAT TS! Finally a decent copy, look forward to watching this tonight. Nice, crisp image...a bit over saturated like some have said, but, it will do. Audio is the typical centropy quality, and I give them some points for that excellent clip because Diaz is...*me dies drooling while trying to finish my statement*

I'm not sure why they have to crop it so much. The movie was played in widescreen so they shouldn't need to crop into the movie. Anyone know why that happens?

Usually it doesn't bother me but sometimes like with this one it does. Lots of people missing their foreheads and necks and you can't read the subtitles.

This offering by centropy is beneath their standards imo. The audio is great as usual, but the image has too much color and is a tad dark when i play on my standalone. Still, I've got no complaints. It's the next best thing to seeing it in the theater.

Actually, the movie plays in Scope, which is much wider than wide-screen. If thay have cropped it on top and bottom to make it look like widescreen, then a lot of the side must have been cropped as well.

Well I understand "scope" being 2.35:1, is that correct? That's the same letterbox size used in CTP's release here. I compared a same shot in this release to the trailer and found that 30% of the vertical frame is cropped out (10% off the top and 20% off the bottom). The sides are cropped but a lot less than the top/bottom.

Now with Hulk, that should be originally 2.35:1 also but CTP letterboxed the release for 16:9 there. Definitely easier to watch (people aren't cut from their bottom lip to their eyebrows) but I imagine a lot more from the sides is cropped (haven't compared to the trailer).

I guess what I'm trying to understand is if the theatre aspect is 2.35:1 (is that correct?) then why does so much get lost when CTP letterboxes the same at 2.35:1?

Posted by Betty on 07-06-2003 05:56 PM:

Ok, I guess I was just confused by the term Widescreen then. Widescreen is actullay 1,85:1, which is a bit wider than 16:9 (1,77:1). =) Well, that's not completely true either, because there are several different "widescreens". But the most commonly used it 1,85:1.

My guess is that since this is a telesync, they just weren't able to fit the entire width of the screen on their camera. So instad of releasing what they had, they cropped it to get the right format. Hoping that noone would notice.

this release is good but not usual ctp quality. the cropping hurts the movie (subtitltes can't be read) and some parts are painfully bright.

Posted by NeVeRLiFt on 07-07-2003 06:37 AM:

This release is good but cropped some, there is no noticable angle and the colors are good but can come off really orange at times. Tweaks the colors and contrast/brightness for the picture. The movie was good and like how it played off stuff the TV series did.

Audio = 8
Video = 8 (tweak colors are its orangish tinted IMHO)
Movie = 7-8 (Good movie)

Very nice release and will due till we get the DVDrip

Nice sharp picture. Nice Audio. But too much color and, too much orange and too much cropping. Angle isn't too bad well not as bad as finding Nemo anyway. The movie was too goofy for my tastes but the women are hot.
