One of the worst movies ever made. Nice release quality though...

Alas another failed attempt at making a very decent Stephen King story into a movie...The only thing I've got to say is TCF..good job as usual...William Goldman..please for the sake of the movie industry...shoot your self in the head before writing another screenplay.

I haven't seen the TCF version yet, so flame on if you must, but as for the quality of this film, you all are being a little too hard on it.

It's a fucking parody people! How many people didn't get this?

It's a black parody (if there is such a thing) of John Carpenter's manly-man's-man-of-a-man movies of the late seventies and eighties, where everyone has a stupid name like, Snake, Buzz, or Jonesy, and all they do is fight the Thing out in the middle of nowhere, drink hard and cuss for no reason while eatin' a slab of extra-rare moose meat cooked over an open fire of flamin' 2x4's cuz it makes it taste more burnt.

Did they fuck up the ending?...You bet. But there is still alot of fun shit in this flick.

All you have to do to enjoy it is kick back and muse at the absurdity while watching how far Kasdan strays from his usual big studio melodramas and bubblegummy romantic comedies; he does some wierd shit in this movie, and I think its alot of fun.
