Vhs Screener ----> widescreen ----> vcd -----> 27 inch TV ---- subtitles ------ = TIME TO GET A BIGGER TV!

Nice Release

Dang OBUS...you guys or girls are worthy...this is a great release shocking its still 3 disc even in VCD format. But never mind its nice very nice. The Pixelation isn't a big idea..its small compared to the sound and quallity of the pic...its a great screener keep it up...

video 8...looks nice on the computer..but looks wonderful on the t.v.
audio.9..its great loud and super clear..
overall...8...great freak'n movie...nice as hell screener...waiting on a dvdrip until then..

Video: 3/4, grainy, extremly pixilated for a VHS screener(or infact even a "cam"!), slightly cropped, action scenes had quite some blur!

Audio: 6/7, dont know why people think its superb, its O.K, nothing special

Movie: 7

Well, I think the MPT's TS was better video quality than this one, stopped watching after 30 mins as the video quality was rubbish, seems like they did a TS from a television lol

just curious as to what rating scale you are using... anyways... video is pixelated but it isn't that bad...

8/9/9

Posted by Nusphere on 12-29-2003 11:52 PM:

the TS was less pixelated but had worse sound. this rls wouldve been better at fS.

This movie was awesome and you should see it in theatres first. Go now -> and use up your free passes

good release;
7/8/10
(based upon it being scr. src)

I was wondering why this is on 3 discs as well. The movie runtime is 154 minutes, you can get 160 minutes on 2 vcds, so why 3 discs??

Ratings based on vhs source and the first 5 mins of disc 2:
7/9/?

Just watched it and loved the movie. The video was pixilated and subtitles were sometimes hard to read, but overall not a bad release.

Video - 6
Audio - 8
Movie - 8

nice release.

7.8/8.0/8.5

great movie.

ummm....

did anyone else notice that they actually cut the Sample out of the rls rather than just extracting it? :/

at the end of cd1 it cuts where the fight should be... but the sample has most of the fight...

eh?!?! that got me really confused

edit :: actually, there are some rather large gaps between both cd changes, unfortunate

OBUS have done it again, thumbs way up for speedy rls but as with the Lost In Translation screener, the video looks like it was captured through my ass and encoded at 500kps instead of 1150kps. It gets very pixelly with fire and during battle scenes and the subs aren't too easy to read.

Audio is fine though.

are you using vcdgear to extract the bin/cue to mpg?

if so youll need to get a newer version or change some of your settings cause there is no gap between the cds at all. cd1 ends exactly where cd2 starts and same for cd2 - 3. (im in the habit of checking this when extracting the films because of the same previous errors ) .i used to have the same problem with certain releases but since updating vcdgear dont have these probs anymore.

as for the film havent had a chance to watch it yet but am quite looking forward to it .

Give me a screener over a telesync any day, just grabbed it, not bad seeing as its only been out a week here in the UK, pretty amazing they got it with all the fuss being made over Screeners at the moment.

Video = 7/10
Audio = 8/10
Movie = 9/10

Posted by Indiana Jones on 01-16-2004 06:10 PM:

Just thought I would point out that you dont need to re-encode the movie to get it to be vcd compliant, just load them into TMPGEnc, select MPEG Tools, then Merge & Cut, then load in each seperate file and change from MPEG-1 System to MPEG-1 VideoCD, this only take 5 mins and will output a vcd compliant file.

I don't know why people are saying this looks bad..this looks great for a vhs screener..and looks amazing on my t.v..

8/8/9 Great Film..

not sure if any cares or is interested in my opinion as this has been out for ages but. the video quality is terrible 16x16 pixel blocks all over the video. the sound is damn good though

Posted by El'Marko-- on 02-04-2004 10:25 PM:

vcd's are terrible

why do groups insist on ruining all their releases by making them a terrible quality vcd instead of a great quality svcd?????
svcds might be a bit bigger but i think that having decent picture quality is well worth a little extra size. i really dont understand the logic behind taking a vhs screener and making it an almost unwatchable vcd because its already poor quality in the first place, at least make it an svcd to keep the quality poor, and not terrible.
anybody else agree with me on this one or what???

Posted by krutselno on 02-14-2004 08:19 PM:

The video of this release is far from great, if it wasn't for the fact that I was really bored and had nothing else to watch I did see the whole movie.....the movie was great though

Video 6
Audio 8
Movie 9

Posted by goodfella925 on 02-19-2004 08:10 AM:

I expected better quality from the screener but it was VHS.
The audio was pretty clear and didn't sound bad on my small computer speakers.
The movie hit one of my top 10 favorites.

6/7/10
