-- Love Actually - SCREENER - OBUS (http://www.vcdhq.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=32854)

Posted by [-BiG_W-] on 01-09-2004 10:23 AM:

Sound does have a very small amount of his in it but it's only noticable in a few of the scenes.

Picture is really really blurry though. My eyes hurt after about 10 minutes of watching it. It's the best rls of the movie so far though.

Typical Obus release...nice picture..slightly blurred and a little cropped..but not bad at all..just minor issues..overall the movie is great and so is this release..

video 7 could have been better
audio 8 didn't hear that hiss..but ok..sounds good to me.
overall 8 great movie..hopefully the dvdrip will drop soon.

Hurry and Repack the Company and your surprise release of paycheck.

thought it was established that dvd screeners were are actually going to be released this year? i could be wrong.....

MPAA and Academy of Motion Picture Art have managed to reach a compromise over the MPAA's decision to ban Oscar screeners that has infuriated tons of industry insiders.

According to the deal, MPAA member studios wont send out any DVD screeners (screener is a DVD or VHS pre-release of a movie on DVD or VHS that hasn't been released for rental distribution yet), but will send out watermarked VHS screeners instead. These screeners will be sent out only to Academy members, i.e. for all of those eligible to vote for Oscars, but leaves out other award institutions, such as Golden Globes.

Each Academy member will have to sign a contract where he/she agrees that the screener wont be taken out of their homes and that the tape would be watermarked in a way that copies made from it could be tracked back to the individual who "leaked" the copy. If anyone gets caught of "leaking" a screener copy, they would get expelled from the Academy.

In addition to MPAA member companies, New Line Cinema and DreamWorks Pictures have agreed to arrangement. According to both, Academy and MPAA, this will be a one-year experiment to see what kind of effects it has on overall movie piracy.

I'm with you on that one, Big Fish lost audio sync 1/2 way through each cd.

Video wasnt bad for a screener. Good enough for this kind if film

Audio seemed fine to me running through my surround sound system

Fucking bullshit movie full of shit actors that should all be castrated and shot (Hugh Grant especially).

This Look Ok, BUT i Think ill Stick With The UTi Release

Coz Of The Video On This Is A Bit Crap , Blured Out Of Focus
and The Sound Has A HISS in It

So To You Ass's Out There How Can You Rate This 8's On Video When You Cant Make Out What Happing ?
Your All Gonna Need Some Special Glasses After Whatching This Movie Cos YOur Eyes Gonna Hurt.

Nice to see WS screeners. I know a bit of quality is lost but prefer to see the movie in it's orignal ratio. (Would be even nicer to have an anamorphic picture - yes, it is possible even in a VHS source).

Picture is blurred because the VCD is NTSC 29.97 fps instead of NTSC Film 23.976 fps, resulting in some of the interlaced frames of the original being blurred together for the encode.

Chris, have you tried burning disc with compliant checked off? if that doesn't work why don't you sell your dvd player and buy a cheap one that plays vcd's, svcd's etc? I helped my sister buy one for $45, a panasonic that plays all the movies I burn for her just fine. Unless your phillips is an integrated home theatre dvd or a very expensive one, I would look into selling it. Why suffer?? Have you tried to play the discs on other dvd players of friends/relatives or tried to play it at a store's dvd player?

Posted by thebmano1 on 01-10-2004 12:32 AM:

yeah chris play it at a stores dvd player , why not, u could only get busted and ur computer taken off u but it will be worth it because ull find out if the vcd plays. aussiefan r u mad or just damn stupit.

use vcdgear and turn the bin and cue to a dat file encode it 2 dvd format or encode it again to vcd which will take away the heavy mpeg1vcd padding that is on all of obus releases.

burn the new mpeg flie and it should play ok (i have a philps dvd
player and master and commander played fine)

Just watched this on the TV.

Video - 7.5 - it was quite good for a VHS source and a VCD encode.

Audio - 8 - no hiss whatsoever.. no idea what you people who
claim it's there are talking about.

Movie - 3 - granted, I'm not the target audience for this flick.

Video seemed blurred on my pc and I nearly didn't waste a disc burning it, but I am glad I did, cos on the standalone and tv the blur seemed to melt away. It was good to get the whole pic instead of cropped to hell.

I didnt notice the hiss that everyone else was on about. And thought it much better than the tinny other release I had of this.

Flik was a good old fashioned romance, with some nice comic touches thrown in. Nice to see this balancing out the action/adventure ones.

7.5/7/8

Sample looks ok.

video - 7
audio - 7
movie - I'll tell you when I watch it.

What proggie would you suggest editing a movie with? I only have tmp and jdub. I want to edit this(need to edit out the porn folks) for a friend.

The movie was very good and I really enjoyed it.

Posted by Wolter on 01-22-2004 07:13 PM:

late post, but i finally leeched this one and i'm kind of disappointed cause it hardly looks better than the cam and cause i'm german, i don't give a damn bout the sound.
So if you want to have a "bigger" pic combine the Cam-Video with the Screener sound.
