Asian flix are the best, I really wish I would have known this post was started. There are so many good foreign flix, where to begin to list ... horror is by far more graffic, and more scary ...

www.upcominghorrormovies.com has some Great reviews for new horror movies, the page is really updated if you're looking for reviews.

Some of my favorite films from abroad are ...

Nang-Nak
Audition
Another Heaven
BR/BR2
Dark Water
The Eye
Ichi
Junk
Ju-on (series)
Kairo
Ring0
Ringu
The Ring
The Ring 2
The Ring Virus
St. Johns Wort
Suicide Club
Tell Me Something
Uzumaki
Versus
The Twins Effect

those are just the ones that I started off with, but there are so many out there to watch ... I just dislike it when ppl are so closeminded as to not watch a movie with subtitles ... it's like they aren't everything. I would like to see more Asian Flix released in the scene, would be nice, 'cause some get really expensive, to check it out before you buy it

Hope this was helpful in finding some good movies to watch

Returner

I'd never heard of this film until a couple days ago when I was downloading like crazy off of BitTorrent. Here's the IMDb link:

Returner

I'm not the best reviewer in the world, so I'll just try to sum up without giving anything away (except the premise). The last human survivors of an alien invasion have to send someone back in time to 2002 to alter the original incident that led to the invasion. So the movie is like a combination of Independence Day -- in the sense that there's a massive war going on between humans and aliens -- and Terminator -- in the sense that the movie focuses mainly on a single incident in the "past" rather than the future war.

Overall, the storyline and characters are developed fairly well, and the movie is a lot less corny than I was expecting. The martial arts sequences are slick and, for the most part, believeable, and the special effects are Hollywood-blockbuster caliber.

The element that I most enjoyed was how the writers reveal bits and pieces of the future at perfect times in the movie. Every chunk of the movie that you originally don't quite understand is eventually revealed to make perfect sense, and usually just after you've completely forgotten that you didn't quite understand what had been going on. It's really quite clever.

Definitely worth a download, or even a DVD purchase.

Battle Royale was cool. I like Asian cinema quite a bit. It's too bad that the dubs never make any sense. I suppose there are just some things that there are no English words or phrases that work for.

Killer, and Hard Boiled were good. I like the Killer better.

Been wanting to see "...ing"

Good to see someone talking about something other than the meaningless shit we are inundated with in the states.

I've got into asian films over the past year or so, since I watched Ringu. I was originally put off by the subtitles but I've become used to them now. I've got quite an extensive collection now *strokes cock*

Anyway, Takashi Miike films are a good starting point for anyone who wants to sample some far east delights. Most of his films are incredible, shocking, surreal. I just watched Kikoku last night, and I'm afraid to say it was a bit of a disappointment. Not one of his best.

Watched Gozu too, a very wierd film indeed. Where else would you see a Yakuza boss with a spoon up his arse?!

Try some of his earlier films first before you delve into his newer stuff.

Speaking of subtitles, if you manage to get hold of a film with no subs, more than likely you'll find them here,

Yes! Kloofy has an awesome site there. My copy of the Director's Cut of Battle Royale didn't have subs, I had no idea where to get them, and Google led me to Kloofy. Within 5 minutes of realizing I didn't have subs, they were downloaded, and I was watching.

Hero?

I'm not sure if ya'll know this about the Movie HERO... the "new" Jet Li Movie coming out....

Well, the movie has been out for quite some time now, on DVD. you could go to your local movie rental store (if they have a good collection of Asian Films) or any China Town, and you can pick up the DVD. Quentin Tarantino had nothing to do with the Movie... Most of you probably are expecting some wicked Tarantino Movie with lots of Twist and Turns... Like the Kill Bill Volumes, or Pulp Fiction....

The reasoning for Tarantino's involment of the movie is that He viewed the Movie and was surprised that it wasnt on the USA Market yet, so he's basically taking the movie rights to Distribute it in the USA. It's been in Japan now for a while.

I got a copy of the DVD, i'm not one to say much about a Movie, because i dont feel like it's up to me to decide weither or not a movie is great, or suck ass.... so if you go hunting you can find it.... if it's worth your time, that'll be up to you.

Let me just say ONE thing.... what you see on the Trailer is basically all the best parts, besides my Scene, which i dont want to reveal, but it's pretty bad ass....

thanks for listening

You should all see
2002

Sometimes referred to as chinese Ghostbusters. Although it's not a comedy, in fact I didn't really think it was funny at all. It got a bit of a slagging off on IMDB but I loved it especially the scene in the hospital with the boy in the cap the mother, the father and the hero only some of whom are actually alive. The pool fight was great as well, someone gave me a silver of it but I might well buy it I liked it that much (I'm very tight).

8.5/10

And

7 samurai Akira Kurosawa at his finest, a classic tale of bandits, samurai, honour, a village and a bad ass battle at the end. The finest foriegn language film ever made, buy it, rent it or download it but just somehow get it, get it NOW.

10/10

Oh and don't forget The Hidden Fortressis great as well
