Does anybody know if the video source was the russian tc ?

Posted by Dastard on 06-10-2004 03:20 PM:

I can believe people continue to try to pass this crap off as Telecine... what I cannot believe is the people here trying to make excuses for them. Here's a hint: there's no reason for a TC to suck and real TCs are VERY rare.

It's one thing to be respectful of the release groups and their efforts, but it's another thing all together to be a mindless fanboy.
This isn't a TC just like their TROY release, and by labeling these as such they lied to you just as much as they lied to me.

Don't let scene politiking interfere with the movies. This should have been nuked as a dupe of their own *PROPER* TS, because that's all this is... A high quality TS.

Overcropped , watch the scene where the guy in japan was talking on his cell phone during the hail storm , half the subs were either missing or cut off, Great Crop Job TUN!!! Sounds super loud also.

good quality release. def grab it. i was very pissed to find videocd blatantly lied in their nfo saying "we cut it as the camera pans the earth before credits" blah blah they cut out about two minutes, including dialogue as well as footage! very very bad.

Posted by dvdhouse111 on 06-10-2004 08:56 PM:

i was a happy with video cds release so will stick with that. as for is it a TC or TS? who cares lol either grab or leave.

Posted by eighty5 on 06-10-2004 10:41 PM:

I'm so sick of the vcd and svcd scene at this point.

From FBI fucking up Envy, to VideoCD cutting ou the ending in this film, to TUN pretending that everyone is stupid and re-encoding the .ru TC, which is crap, to Troy by TUN which is a lego-fest.

The scene is full of bullshit and lies and its pissing me off.

Screw this release, too loud, cropped, blocky.

4/4/?

All these TUN haters...
First of all, no, i'm not a member or affiled with them in any way, shape or form.

To all those who class this release as "blocky" / "Pixelated" - Have you even watched it on a Standalone? I've just finished watching the whole movie. I Didn't notice it go pixalated anywhere.

Sound was near perfect. Never 'jumped' as mentioned in posts above.

YES it was cropped, the only time you noticed was in the begining where the oriental is on the cell phone and you can just see the top of the subs... not worth scene nuke just for that imo.

The cigarette burn marks in the movie seem pretty low down the screen, could this be because the source had a foreign subtitle hardcoded and TUN cropped to remove? We probably will never know.

The colors were sharp and vivid.
The audio was fine.

8/9/7

My 2cents worth.

Posted by Jc100 on 06-11-2004 02:20 AM:

Watchable and clear audio.. cropped as mentioned.. Movie itself was shitty.. very very very very shitty..... It was armageddon with bad acting, plot flaws, you name it.. Im sure the guy hiked about 300 miles in a few days to get to his son.. Um yea, the typical sportsman hiking in 10 feet of snow can hall ass... O and now freeze to death in the process... so on so forth... a true piece of shit script.. On the flipside, good CGI's ... lol.. wow all that money spent and couldnt make a plot / script... Yay for the retards in hollywood.

Posted by Krakn3Dfx on 06-11-2004 02:44 AM:

Already dl'd the VideoCD release, which was fine for this movie, considering it wasn't that great. A few good scenes here and there, but not nearly enough. I feel like I was cheated on the special effect end of the stick.

Ahh well, whatcha gonna do.

7.8/9.2/5.4

I am Getting this as i type this just to see if its any good

Intresting though as the site i got it from labeled it as neked due to been blocky/Pixelated strange how apart from a few members saying it should be nuked its not classed as nuked here
EDIT: i now see that it is classed as nuked here

-------<I will add my comments here once i see the full release>-------

EDIT: I have just seen the sample and to be honest it don't look that bad on a standalone (burnt sample as SVCD)

anyone who rates this a 9/9/not - infiity needs to be banned, and fast. no telecine deserves a 9/9, most SVCDs of DVDRips dont even get 9/9, kids learn to rate. this release is crap. obviously a reencode, and if i want a reencode ill go to TMD thank you very much. UMS put out better releases then this. TUN, go back to your little hole, and stay there.

?!

what in the hell is wrong with you people? this release is GREAT. Nowhere did i see pixles, and the sound was perfect. I dont like TUN (per their absolute shit releases previously) but good god. Stop rating quality based on the group, that goes for nuking as well.

This is one of the best releases ive ever seen, pre-dvdrip.

9/10/6

Only lost a point in video because during the tokyo part, some guy says something in japanese and you cant see the subtitle at the bottom. Thats seriously all i can find wrong with the video.

Posted by I am X on 06-11-2004 09:12 AM:

Ok, something's not right here. I just sat down and watched the entire version of this release. I have insane love for VideoCD. They consistently put out wickedly clean releases over and over again. With that said, I have to say that "Tun's" version of this movie KILLS VideoCD's. I don't know what those of you could possibly be talking about with your bad reports on this movie. Not only was the sound in clean stereo, but the picture was CRYSTAL CLEAR. There were no glitches of ANY KIND on this release. NOT A SINGLE ONE. I converted it to DVD format for play on my stand alone, and the quality was GORGEOUS.
I also noticed something else. With all the controvesy about VideoCD's "unfinished" release with the last 3 minutes of the movie missing, Tun's version plays all the way to the END of the CREDITS. To ME, it was as if that was done purposely as a slap in the face to VideoCD's version. I don't know much abvout this group, and from what I remember, they put out some stuff that wasn't all that good, but if they can consistently put out releases of THIS caliber, the other groups are gonna have some MAJOR competition on their hands. I was HIGHLY impressed with this release, audio AND video wise.
As far as the movie itself, it didn't do much for me. I found it to be a bit on the boring side. To date, the director has been trying to top his big hit "Independence Day", and has not been able to pull it off. This release was a slight bit insipid.

P.S. For those of you that are ragging on this release about certain imperfections, I don't think you're reporting on the right release. I know there are a few others out there, and you must be talking about the OTHER release of this that this group [Tun] put out. THIS release is INSANELY good quality!

Video - 8.5
Audio -10
Movie - 6

ok, now that everyone is wet...the rls looks fine. better than what people describe. audio is very nice...one problem

is the video, definitely not from a TC machine, definitely re-encoded from a silver source or from another rls of another grp, maybe videocd...how do you know? by the intense video jumps and lags in video in certain non action scenes. this was definitely re-encoded...for shame....anyhow. with that out of the way, the rls list for this movie was a diabocal on its own..but still this is watchable and was fine, should have been internal rls...anyhow.

the rating

7/8/7

audio is what made me keep watching..the movie itself, lots of action , almost identical to ID4's plot but was a good Hollywood Scripted movie to make you feel good...found it enjoyable, one of those flicks you can just put on, and do something in the room, like clean up shit or smoke an L or organize your desk or build a computer , etc to and ever so often look over to the tv to catch an action scene and go ...WOAH...your moment of Zen is here

about the tun tc svcd release..

I just watched CD3..and the quality was very good!
TC or not.. plus i didnt see no pixel- or no blockiness....
For those who want to know if the ending is intact, yes it is..
It even showed all the credits until the end...Definetly a Full,
and complete release..
As for quality compared to VideoCD... (see below)

TUN TC SVCD 8/9/movie kinda sucked

-complete release, no glitches,Great Audio, Video- colors are sharp and nice *WS but screen seem stretched a bit vertically , Video is a little dark, seems Video is a little too cropped on bottom.

VideoCD TS SVCD 7.5/9/movie kinda sucked

-Incomplete release (missing 3 mins about), few glitches in CD1,
Great Audio, Video- colors are decent but a lil grainy *WS , Video isn't too dark-just right, Video isnt very cropped at all.

conclusion

- Seems they both have flaws..If we took what Tun did right, then took what videocd did correctly, and put them together.. we would have a supreme copy. But thats not the case.. This is probably gonna be the last release for this movie for awhile ( most likely i think ), until scr/dvd...So if you'er interested in the movie, the ending or haven't picked up either release yet... TUN TC would be a good choice.. otherwise stick with videocd.. Goodjob to videocd and TUN with thier great releases..

Don't know why all the bitching. No Pixels/blocks on my 42" Plasma. Played via a top end Panny and a top end Pioneer to see if there was any difference in players..... nope. Played via Xbox, no probs there either. Played in a shitty cheap Manhattan DVD. Sweet as a nut. Why it's been nuked is beyond me... it dumps on VideoCd no problem.
Some nuking is political, this should be allowed to stand on it's merits.

Posted by XXXBoX on 06-11-2004 06:32 PM:

Yeah got this yesterday an watched it last night! My first impression was wtf are these guys talking about? PIxelated my arse! But on closer inspection of my TV you can notice that the picture when saw close up is quite blocky! Its better than the TS rls so its a keeper for now!

Good job overall TUN, but as said before it could have been encoded a litle better. The sound was good but VERY loud! If you aint got any other rls already grab this its ok an i doubt a screener is about to hit us in the next few weeks anyway!
