After a looong hiatus, the Freedster is back!

Anyhoo, I must say this is the first sWs release I would deem worthy of download. The audio is quite crisp and good, the video is not too bad, but it was a pretty static scene in the sample- it looks as if the lighting may get worse for different scenes. All in all, this release is watchable.

There wasn't just a little bit though, there was a lot. Since it's in vcd you can't really do anything about the bitrate.

Video - 5/10 - eh just about the same as the cam
Audio - 5/10 - low but better than the cam was
Movie - ?/10 - want to see it, so I will wait for DVD

This copy reminds me of a cam with slightly better audio. If only the video quality was a tad better it would be been a pretty decent release. Thanks anyway SWS

8/9/3

Video was great (cropped a little)
People who are seeing blocks need to upgrade their stuff.
(Pssst. HDTV)

Sound was near perfect (A-)

Movie sucked. Poorly written and had many flaws.
(Blair Witch this was not) I think the $160,000.00
was over spent.

So glad I didnt see this at the movies.
(sWs did a great job on release.)

Peace!

This looks like a mislabeled CAM... Anyways, I give video a 5, Sound a 6, and movie a 7. A longer sample woulda been nice though (I saw the originial CAM 2 weeks ago).

Not bad

Too bad this movie was so boring.....They should of made it one cd just put the cd2 of the whole thing....the first 40 minutes was so bad (movie wise that is) it gave me time to go to the bathroom and not come out until cd2 was ready...

Posted by bransholme on 08-27-2004 07:29 PM:

The blockiness in the water scenes lets this release down. It could have been so much better if it was SVCD, but hey if the source was crap then the encode will be crap too.

Definetly a TS, the audio is v.good. Overall not bad, I'm sure a SVCD TS will appear soon. This will do me tho as it is watchable enough

Well after reading all your posts i expected the movie to be crap. I recoded this at a higher res and bitrate to kill all the squares and watched it.

As for the movie.... I thought it was good, though the final ending is in the credits (like dawn of the dead) and most of the credits were chopped off.

*Don't Read Below, SPOILER*

WTF, did she kill herself to avoid being eaten by sharks?

I know if I were stranded, my ass would have swam to a shipping lane. I know your not suppose to swim, to avoid exhaustion. But damn, a shipping lane wasnt that far if they saw the ships.

For 2 educated people, they made some pretty poor life decisions.

The pixelation is water scenes are noticeable due to the encode itself not the type of TV and HDTV wouldn't matter for an mpeg-1 source, shit -> in = shit -> out so either you're watching this on a really small TV (32" and below) which will appear to minimize the pixelation view or you're not a videophile and a pixelated scene can look crisp and clean to you. no pun intended, 6/8/7

this should have gotten the SVCD TS treatment..I mean yeah the Movie does pretty much suck..But in VCD the Pic and audio while still cropped and a bit more direct...Leaves something to be desired...I agree with vip3r on this one...Way too blocky..Cmon Maven...U did Yu-Gi-Oh the movie ffs!!!

Picture is nice! No Problems as stated in the posts above.

I do find it a little blocky on the PC but no problems on the stand alone.

video was very pixelated

sound was pretty good

as for the movie I found it very tedius and boring

sharks are more likely to attack during late afternoon than in the morning

they would of also killed them both within hours after he started bleeding, sharks do feed during the night so both of them should of dissapeared long before sun rise

and to make the movie even more flawed I very much doubt they would of been left behind, they being racist by making out the black bloke couldnt count and was blind ?

also pissing in the ocean attracts sharks

Cuts off just a bit early

Video is decent. It should have been SVCD to cope with all the water movement. It gets extremely pixilated when showing water (which happens a lot duh) Sound is good. Movie however gets a thumbs down. It has its scenes of suspense, but cuts off early, and you don't see the ending! I had to google what the actual ending was.
*SPOILER ALERT*
I hated the abrupt and unsatisfying ending. In the morning when the man has bled out from his shark bite, the woman more or less sends him off without so much as a tearful mini-Titanic Rose Loves Jack 4Eva farewell. And then she takes her own final dive.
And what is the point of saying this is based on a true story, when it's clear that the filmmakers have no idea what could have happened between two real divers that were stranded by their charter and died at sea? The ending that was cut off from this release was some fisherman pulling their camera from a slain sharks stomach. What is the point of seeing their camera emerge from the shark's stomach, when they clearly didn't document their distress?

bit pixilated, but meh, not interested.

6/6/?

Posted by LOLobo on 08-30-2004 07:29 AM:

Watched whole release a few nights ago.

Video is pixelated, evident in blockiness of water at opening and closing scenes. Audio was audiable.

This is an OK release for a shit movie. The ending is very cut-off, but then again the story is completely assumed as well.

I don't even see how this fuckin' movie got produced, the wife was such a whiny little bitch with a husband that was definatly missing his a major piece of his anatomy.

I hate these kinds of movies, annoying, pointless, and a complete waste of a group's effort.
