"Printed articles are copyrighted. Don't request them"

actually, in the printing world, it's OK to reprint an article for informative reasons as long as you site the source.

:: Good to know. Do you have a statute for that? If it's going to be public in a few days, I suppose it doesn't matter. -K::

Sorry, but totally forgot to post something...articles by a Jeff Howe.

Posted by vegasguy on 12-28-2004 08:09 AM:

Yep, was nuked for mislabel CAM, audio was hollow as hell, like talking in a cave. At one point some ass decide to stand in front of the camera and talk on his cellphone.

Anyways, I would also like to read this when it surfaces online.

I read the wired article. Pretty interesting read; I was surprised they could go into as much detail as they did. When a news reporter can drop site names like that, there's definately a problem. And whoever gave that reporter an interview are twats.

Posted by FamilyGuy2005 on 12-28-2004 09:35 AM:

Is this only a info theres no video or audio on this file is there?

Posted by spymaster on 12-28-2004 02:25 PM:

the article is by Jeff Howe (as mentioned above) and is entitled; "The Shadow Internet".

according to the wired website the article will be available online on december 30th.

Posted by crackerjax on 12-28-2004 03:33 PM:

it says on the wired website that the article will be posted on 12/30/2004 (couple of days) and then it will be available for "us" public to read ...

If a MaTinE member did have loose lips, he/she should be shot, if they didn't ... it wouldn't be hard for this Jeff fellow who wrote the article to get names like CTP & VideoCD either ...

MaTinE has been around for a while ... you'd think they'd know better?

/end rant

I got a logical question no one raised, that kind of points to Matine might be full of shit.. Even if there is no "Frank" in the group, who is to say one didnt do it and is regretful as someone said... Second, and the part that has not been raised, if it wasnt a member, then how the fuck would someone know that the L.A. times is requesting an interview. I imagine they didnt use a spammer and send it to everyones email address. Therefore, if it got to Matine, and other groups, Someone in a GROUP.... and most likely matine, would have then responded.. Not to say someone in another crew didnt do it, and lie on matine, but that is pretty unlikely, unless this group has serious enemies. I think they did it, and now with the flack, they are regretful for it, and trying to play it off... shoot me if im wrong.

very good point...as you said, they busted themselves out in their own nfo by sayin they got that email from la times....i believe that they were thinkin about doing it, then said no, but someone in the grp went off and did it and the editor didnt change names like he was supposed to and now they are tryin to cover there ass's....for ever did this article...this shows you how insecure the scene really is cuz of n00bs....damn MaTine...or whoever, this is prob the down fall of a lot of sites and grps

I had one of my best experiences ever with this dl - I clicked and it was there! Wow! Do they get any better than this?

Unfortunately the video and audio weren't quite as good...

0 - mine stuck on the rather unusual copyright warning - first time I've seen the copyright owners dissociating themselves from the content...if only we could convince sony, disney and dreamworks to go down the same route.

0 - hmmm...long time since I've seen a silent movie. Hardly in the Chaplin or Keaton class. In fact, not even up to Mel Brooks' Silent Movie. And as for the fansubs...obviously a non-native English speaker: "rapped by 10 men with aids" - there was me expecting "Two Thousand Maniacs!" and all I got was a Village People music video

8 - kept me amused, beats rubbing your knob up against a cheese grater (which is considerably less amusing). Not sure that I really want a sequel, but I'll have to see the "Making Of..." when it appears on the Wired site.

So, that's my hollywood arthouse dl for this month, I'm getting back on the Meet The Fockers, hopefully that has slightly more straightforward humour.

did you ever think about just sitting on your computer and just THINK... howww could the LA times have gotten an email address?
Did you ever think that they just looked at MaTiNe info? Where an email address is probably listed right on there?

About the nfo.. lame. That's it

i saw that post too and i presumed it was a l33t scene reference that i wasn't aware of or just didn't get - the capitalisation of 'JEW' made me think that i guess.

if it isn't and is a straight out anti-semitist slur then is that acceptable on this site? would the replacement of 'JEW' with 'CATHOLIC' have been acceptable? i've seen far less inflammatory posts edited on this site.

[ps: i'm neither jewish nor catholic. in fact, i don't subscribe to any "organised" religion at all, but simple respect for the beliefs, customs and lives of others makes me think the post referred to is far from acceptable.]

:: Not it's not acceptable. If you see him do it again, let me know and I'll ban him. -K::

Whether an MTE member gave an interview or not, that whole article was a load of crap. This is the second article to appear in "Wired" about piracy, and both have been huge fallacies designed to entertain Kazaa kiddies. The article from a couple of months ago mentioned "IRCs" and "Usenets."

Actuallly you can only reprint four paragraphs without permission to not violate copyright laws. Will look for specific law and edit post.

a1catraz, dude, seriously.. you are very very tired or FUCKING retarded.. re-read my post SLOWLY... very slowly.. anyone could have emailed them, but once its sent off, they need a username and password to check that box, numbnuts.. holy shit.. how do some people breed in this world..... Internet... definied as connection to information stored on database.. Email... sent to a person, requiring a username / password to check i most cases.. webpage, the place you log on to get the email... Does this clarify it or do i need to buy you some common sense to understand only a group member would have access to this?

Edit this for flaming, but i deserve this one, how moronic can some guys response be to the most logical of posts!!

:: Easy there, fellas. -K::

welcometothescene[DOT]com

Defianitly seems skripted.. Well I noticed it more in pt2. Seening how he had the NFO on his desktop the whole time. I figure it to be a little Audio/Video Major from NYU.

LOL.. u'r joking right?

Just got done reading the article and as a whole its pretty much what I would have expected from that mag. They have a lot of things right on the workings of the scene (its really not so secret anymore as it used to be because of articles just like this and fucktards in the scene that contriubte to these articles). Giving out sitenames in articles.. tisk tisk. The people they choose to interview for this article just strike me as stupid and not worthy of top site access. I did enjoy the bittorent article though, good to see mags acknowleding that the currents sales medium of entertainment is going to change A LOT and real soon (I find this really ironic as I just finish reading the wired article online before it hits newstands)

Has anyone this article? I want to read it! Pls PM me!

[EDIT:: It'll be online soon, read the previous posts! - NS]
