First off, Thanks for the great release. The quality on this looks and sounds great. As for the bitrate. I wasnt sure if my standalone would handle it so I just used a freeware program called "DVD Patcher" and changed the bitrate like I did on a few other releases that were nuked for too high a bitrate. Anyway for the ratings.

as Monster69 said, this is a dvd cap, not a dvd rip, so it's sort of mislabeled, in addition to the nonconformant bitrate. i have no idea why anyone would cap a dvd.

a bit blurry, but not bad. very watchable. i assume this is because of the extra digital -> analog -> digital conversion required when capping.

should have been internaled. not a bad release by any means, but not up to the standards we've come to expect from videocd.

no issues with bitrate on my memorex or mustek players.

good lord, who ever is doing the "nuking" needs to end
themselves. go nuke something from POT where the
background hiss is louder than the dialog.

anyhow, it played back perfectly on my stand alone dvd player.
video quality was good and audio was perfect.

movie was pretty good, not as good as all the hype, but
entertaining.

video: 8.5
audio: 10
movie: 8

checkout this article: http://www.mpeg-playcenter.com/kiss...theres_more.htm

this year the MPAA paid a company called Kiss to make special encrypted DVD players, they sent the dvd players & screeners to the oscar judges. considering the video is rather blocky, and there is the "play" message at the beginning, this is most likely a capture from the s-video output.

video - 6 - what can i say, blocky in flat colored scenes (like walls, the sky, etc)... otherwise sharp

audio - 10 - perfect transfer, probably a direct digital capture

movie - 9 - one of the best movies of 2004

MUCH MUCH thanks to the folks who are willing to offer us these rips, they are great quality... far better than anything out.

Sat down with the family/neighbors to watch this one. After the first half of the movie there was only 2 left watching, everyone else left. Second half I had to fast forward most of it because the movie was so boring to me, my family, and the neighbors. We wanted to watch it because it was filmed in the town we live in and heard from others it was really good (maybe to the older/wine tasting crowd). I thought nothing would beat Alexander as worst movie of the year IMO, but this one beat it by far.

You don't need to know anything about wine to enjoy this film. Quite frankly I couldn't know less about the stuff, but I really enjoyed it.

Its about a man trying to get over his ex wife and coming to terms with the fact that his life won't turn out the way he wanted. While at the same time having to cope with his chaotic friend. Its very sombre at times and sometimes slow moving. However IMO the slow parts mirror the main characters state of mind, which helps the viewer really understand him. The film also has some very funny moments and some quite beautiful moments too. Its very intelligently written and the acting is top notch (especially Paul Giamatti who is absolutely outstanding as the main character Miles).

I can understand how someone could find the movie boring if its not the kind of film thier looking for. But anyone who actually thinks its a bad movie just hasn't given it a chance IMO.

Video - 8
Audio - 9
Movie - 8

The reason video gets an 8 is simply because of the max bitrate. Which seemed to cause some minor problems when playing the movie on my PC. Though it did actually play in the end and I'd think it will be fine on a DVD player.
