And I was gonna point out that I used to run a (well, a bunch of different ones during a 3 year period) BBS on a Commodore 64 (and a VIC and a 128 and a 64C, I'm old, people!) and it had a built in ANSI editor to make screens very similar to .nfo's. I always assumed that's where the practice originated. I think pHo alluded to this.

Anyway, we didn't have Windows back then. We DID have GEO World (eventually), but it sucked and nobody used it. What's it all mean? Who knows....

This is very VERY disturbing. This is the 3rd time I have found someone using my nick on various boards.
I would just like to clear the air and assure anyone who is wondering that the Original "Vibeop" on this board IS NOT Rob from Xpertgamers Servers. Anyone who knows me knows that I DO NOT POST ON ANY BOARDS. Not IsoNews, not here, NOT ANYWHERE.

Xpertgamers and its servers are dedicated to the scene and we do not flame, abuse or post nonsense about any PERSON, GROUP or RELEASE in the scene.

It would be greatly appreciated if the Moderators of this board would kindly delete all posts by this FRAUD in order to not confuse people about the true origins of these posts.

well ok .. the nfo viewer is nice.. but one thing from nfo artist to admin :-) would you be so kind to change the colors ? as you have said and i could confirm.. the asciis were done in aciddraw or thedraw good old dos progs :-)) and they were done on black background and white forground .. to pls invert it :-)) 2nd terminal font is fine.. but somehow it fucks the art up since it sometimes dont support the half blocks, its a problem on win2k and xp systems.. on older versions of windows just delete your codepage and everything will look asskicking.. for those 2k and xp crowd.. go and grab that damn nfoview.. its delivers a font called infoview which works perfectly.. else drop by www.thuglife.org and get ice/acid/blood view for best results... and even in the most artpacks brings little tiny and good ascii viewers with it (ok dunno about the others .. OUR does :-))

so long

(its set up quite simply, even the lamers can read the message that flashes up at the end of every post)
hm, actually most of them can't
because this message pops up for maybe one second before it redirects you, i had to try several times to copy'n'paste it..
hm maybe you could do something about this?

but i don't understand this system anyway.. what is it for? do you read through every one of the 10 first posts of every new user and give your OK to every single one?

Yes they do. There are a lot of people that sign up just so they can post asking where to get something, which is against the forums rules. If there was no moderation of first X posts then all these requests would come through and the boards would get flooded by them. This also raises legal issues, if the site is seen letting people ask where to get something, it could/would be assumed that people respond to them. Either through pm or public posting on the boards. This is a problem because it could be some time before the offending request/reply posts are noticed and removed from the board. B setting stict rules of no requesting and enforcing them through moderation so they dont even make it to the boards, those that request never see there posts up and effectively stop requesting. And hense since there is no requests, there is very little chance of somebody else slipping up and posting information that may cause legal issues for the site.

Even one posting of a specific newsgroup, ftp, irc channel, website, etc in which illegal meterials and the such can be obtained could result in the site being shut down.
