I'm not sure if i should bother to explain, but here it goes in short:

This whole tweaking needs re-encoding the video. Because of this, depending on the bitrate, it will always lower the picture quality some(depends what bitrate using)

Aspect ratio was corrected by lowering the resolution from 640x272 -> 640x240.

Brightnes(luma) was corrected by using Levels filters...duh.

I found that when adjusting brightnes the noise increased too. I applyed some small noise reduction too on the filter pipeline. Anyways, with these tweaks its a lot better than the origianl release.

Even though 640x272 is right aspect for this movie (2.35:1) it is fucked up because who ever encoded this, did not remember to calculate the pixel difference after cropping...thats why this release with its cropping needs to be 640x240

I'm having trouble with getting the audio to even play. I installed divx and xvid codec and windows media is giving the unable to download appropriate decompressor. Suggestions?

The audio is AC3 (at least that's what GSpot says) so you need an AC3 decoder.

As for the release I honestly don't have the sync problems people are talking about. I seeked through the both entire files and it was in sync to the end of both. The ar is off a bit but that's easily fixed with media player classic. The colour/brightness or whatever is also slightly off but after fiddling around with the settings in ffdshow it looks better now.

Overall nice release:

7/7/?

EDIT:
changed video from 8 to 7 cause I justchecked it out again with the filters off and realized it was worse than I previously thought. A good release though as long as you know how to fix it up.

There is slight out of sync during the second cd, it only lasts couple minutes, then it goes back to sync.

Ok, I probably just missed that as I was going through the video :/

same as TUN

Same source as TUN's TC SVCD -- still red, still cropped, still russian crawl.

6/7/9

Video - 6 - i hate cropping worse than anything. redness is easily fixable with a few color correction filters, a tiny bit dark.
Audio - 7 - i had no sync issues, contrary to other people's claims here.. played fine in wmp/wmpclassic/xbmc. sound is pretty good, but I didn't notice more than one distinct channel... is it mono?
Movie - 9 - one of the best SW movies to date.

all in all a fairly good release, it's quite watchable. if you haven't already, do yourself a favor and see it in theaters first. it's worth it if you're a fan.

Please, someone with a new source?

How can anyone give the audio on this release anything above a 5? It baffles the mind. Are you guys deaf? Can no one hear that horrible audio hiss?

used mainconcept h.264 encoder to convert this and dvd maestro to dvd, looks and sounds stunning!

great release

9/9/9

Angry

Based on the fact that i have seen this movie on the big screen in theatres, i would definately rate this release lower than the ratings it has been given.

6.5 Video - The picture is SO dark that almost all of the background scenes are not viewable and many of the faces are just shadows. At the point where Palpatine and Anakin **SPOILER REMOVED** i could not even see Palpatine. The end scenes when Anakin becomes ****** is almost black which is a very important scene.
Its also cropped.

6 Audio - The hiss almost makes me want to kill myself.

8.6 Good movie that shouldn't be ruined watching a bad release. Go see it in theatres.

What happened to the days of early DVD SCRNRS ?

You mentioned everything except the most important thing: What software did you use?

Posted by Redemption1980 on 06-02-2005 12:09 AM:

FozzieWak, change your PC monitor or Video Card settings, this looks nothing like u mentioned, all those scenes were fine for me, a little washed out looking in dark scenes, but definetly easy to see.

Audio is only Mono though, which sucks for a Star Wars film, you could edit this and the WP together, by taking the Opening titles and sound from the WP, it works fine, but is an absoulute nightmare to do and i wouldnt recommend it, the audio part i mean.

8/6/9

10/9/8

VIDEO: I've got all the various releases of ROTS and this is the best so far. It has the sharpest video of all current releases... including ViSA's WP release. It's obvious that this is NOT a re-encode of the TUN release. It is a rip direct from the original TUN source.

AUDIO: Very Good

MOVIE: Ain't Palpy the best?

GREAT JOB, MoF!

Turn up the Brightness and Gamma settings on your TV, that's what they are there for...
