Well, for a CAM you really cant complain. Vibrant colors, slight cropping on bottom, and minimal motion blur.

Audio is about as good as most cams will get, and though its not direct, this was definitely better than most of Cobra's releases.

There is definitely a problem with the encoding, because when trying to burn using NERO to DVDR, the mpeg is not accepted. Probably would work fine if trying to burn straight to VCD, but I usually burn straight to DVD-R after converting with VCDGear.

//Vid:: 7

//Aud:: 8 (hollow, but for a cam this is good)

//Mov:: will rate when ive watched in its entirety from start to finish

Hopefully Cobra can work out these encode probs and keep their releases at this quality from now on. Compared to their State Prop II release 2 months ago, this release is a major improvement.

My Two Cents...

Alright, I had high hopes for this movie and glad to report I wasn't disappointed greatly. Also, according to my "15 minutes of fame clock" Chris rock is at 14:59:59. Your black, we get it. Was funny about 4 years ago when noone else was doing it and you hadn't done it to damn death.

/me ends rant

Video - 7 - I didn't notice any cropping that people report because there is one guy that they did subtitles for and they were well up on the screen. Not seen it in theaters so I may be the wrong one to judge but about 3/4 of the way through the screen is blocked for about 10 seconds. Not sure why, but it's there. Apparently noone watches anything other than samples because noone's mentioned it that i've seen. There is a SLIGHT tilt but now that I think about it, either they fixed it or it was so insignificant that after noticing it, I didn't care. It's not bad at all and definately good for a cam

Audio - 8 - Same as video pretty much. Good but not great. There were about 2 blips that I recall but that could have just been the one I got since it was in DVD Format. Sound is a bit hollow but you can hear everything they say as long as you have it turned up a bit. If you have tiny speakers, you might wanna wait.

Movie - 8 - Good movie. I like when they remake some movies so that it introduces the movie to a newer generation that perhaps wouldn't watch it otherwise. My only beef is that everything out of Chris Rocks mouth has to do with race. And like my rant says, it's old. Really really fucking old. That 8 is taking him out of the equation. But if you already dislike him, this will only piss you off more

Overall - If you wanna see the movie, grab this one. Only one out atm and it's not that bad. Minus what the whiners who want DVD Quality releases 100% of the time say. And i'll end with, please only comment on movies you've COMPLETELY seen. Not the samples. THat's stupid.

first off, i'd like to ask why you would burn a cam to dvd-r?

now to rate the movie

video: didnt see any problems with it - 7
audio: sounded pretty good for CAM - 6
movie: have only watched cd1, pretty funny stuff - 8

great cam shot...

v=6.5, a=7.5 on 65" widescreen tv.

Guy puts the lens cap on the camera for a good 10 seconds on CD2; and I was very impressed with the sound.

NOT TO SHABBY

Pretty good release Sound could be better But overall pretty good
Also could be a lil better focused

V = 6
S = 5
M = 6 Not the original but what remake ever is

PS if my remark in Centropy Madagascar release insulted anyone it was not intended too .. I have a sample of centropy release and it is very good.

compared to another recent vcd ts of cobras, this is both better and worse. the picture, compared to their release of 'kings ransom', has a better framerate, but a very blurred, very pixelated, picture.

imo, kings ransom was much btr quality and if cobra's releases were all like that i would be happy.

as a cam

4/5.5/not watched yet

not their best release by far, but nontheless i appreciate the effort they put in and just hope they might improve their encoding from now on

Have any of you watched the whole of this movie? The end is missing!!!!

Posted by dank! on 05-31-2005 08:56 PM:

The end is most certainly not missing, it jumps in to credits at the right point, then the video dies, just like most other releases. If you are thinking of the Camtex Madagascar release, then wrong thread.

This is an excellent cam. Video is a bit washed out, but its TEXAS, everything is dust colored there. I'd give it a 7. Bit of cropping, but at least nearly the whole pic is there. I don't think there were subs, as the big freak guy has english subs (and he speaks english, i hate that) and they are well up on the screen. Slight tilt.

Audio was great for a cam, with the stereo on, it almost sounded direct, only a slight echo. I'd say 7 again.

Movie was good, I agree with the Chris Rock sentiment above, but overall it was enjoyable and a good waste of 2 hours of my pathetic life.

converted to svcd to iron out the pixellation and it runs a lot smoother, a very acceptable release.

longest yard

I thought the movie was enjoyable. The release I got was a dvd copy of the cam. I must say that since the flick did not consist of special effects that this should be watched in the vcd version can. The overcroping can be overlooked do to the real shooting of a scene and not manipulated animation. I say let's give these guy's a solid 8 even with the tinted audio. Funny as hell flick even funnier watching on my couch totally intoxicated without the risk of a dui!

Posted by CCkid on 06-02-2005 08:51 PM:

just remember this is a cam peeps. Some of the ratings seem like you are rating it as something other....

For a CAM the color is very good. The pixelation is minor at worst.

The audio is also above average for a CAM. A slight adjustment on the treble and the hiss is barely noticeable. So rating this as a CAM..

V-8
A-8
M-8

oh yeah...the brief time that the cam is being blocked looks like a coat or something used to cover up the cam from the usher, who knows (?) but i wouldn't subtract from the rating for that.

The second disc won't burn say error in readN the bin file. Redownloaded cd2 from a different site same deal

::EDIT:: Open the .cue file in Notepad and check the "path" to the bin file - Neversoft::

Posted by mattmatt02 on 06-03-2005 09:34 PM:

i checked the sample of this when i was half asleep and i wasnt impressed and showed that in my previous post. i have since checked the full release and the pic is only slightly blurry and only minorly pixelated. the sound is excellent for a cam with good bass etc. this is what you expect from a cam in vcd format. i just wish groups would do cam and vhs-scr releases in svcd format because they are always much better quality...not complaining, just expressing my pov that anything looks better in svcd format than vcd.

anyway, back to the ratings,

as a cam (ignoring that it is a vcd):

7.5/8.5/8

cheers cobra, keep it up

::EDIT:: Actually, you're wrong about the SVCD thing, but I thought I'd mention it to save the flaming idiots from jumping in (unless they want banning) - NS::

::EDIT 2:: id rather have you correcting me than a flaming idiot. i prob dont know what im talking about but i always thought that if the same release was out in svcd format it would have a better resolution and less pixelated pic. anyway, thnx neversoft 4correcting me.

Not bad for whats out so far...

Posted by mattmatt02 on 06-09-2005 04:54 PM:

i dont think anyone will read this post as the release has been out for a while now but if anyone is trying to convert to dvd is is just impossible unless you have a standalone dvd recorder.

i tried it in every converting program i had (after extracting image) and TMPGEnc wouldnt have it and after i used VSO DivxToDVD, it went badly out of sync all the way through. i forced myself to watch it but it was awful. its far too bright also.

someone please release another version!
