-- Red Eye *XviD* - TELECINE - ASTEROiDS (http://www.vcdhq.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=65920)
Ok, i watched this flick last night.
First of all, lame, short, but still boring, amazing combo really.
I'm still undecided. I did notice the quick, way to perfect to be a human, zoom at the logo.
And that's the only time there is any indication this might not be a TC.
The picture is widescreen, maybe a hair cropped off the top, but probably not.
Dark, as for the nature of telecines.
AND it includes several spots of artifacts only seen on telecines. As well as the russian title.
Sorry folks, this just can't be a TS,
The movie is complete, or complete enuff I didn't notice anything missing.
Now.... the audio, from this I can tell half of you never watched it.
The soun d has some issues during the first, oh, 10 minutes., Where theres this hissey, ruffling sound that kinda washes over the sound for a second, here and there. After about 10-15 mins it never happens again.
There are spots where the sound seems to get quite, wwhen i should be loud. I'm gonna say this was done to reduce the effect heard on alot of releases as of late.
Loud sound turns into garbled noise
Can't speak for the vcd version, but I am 100% convinced this IS in fact a TC. The little "zoom" at the logo could be just a glitch from the telecine.
IF this were a TS asteroids deserves a million dollars, as does the original "cammer" who got this and sold to asteroids on the street, or uploaded to torrents for them to dl and encode.

And it appears Burt Reynolds has changed his name to Turd Furgeson.
That's right, it's a funny name
Very nice video, audio has a few bad hissing moments in the first 15 mins. Movie is utter crap. Films like this almost justify piracy
8/6.5/4
v9
a8.5(cos of the MINOR glitches in first 10 mins)
m9
Only complaint I have is the length, end credits kicked in at 1hr 13mins, apart from that and the "BUY A NOKIA AD" it's a great movie! lol
8/7/3-garbage
Watched a few mins ago, was an OK movie, decient quality release...
Video: 8 - Very clear, dark at times but nothing important is missed.
Audio: 6 - Sounds like it was one of those FM recordings from a drive-in. Has some hiss, and some static for a few secs in vrious parts.. Boy do I miss DTS audio..
Movie: 7 - Was good, not Wes Craven's best though...
Just finished watching the movie. Unfortunately I had to watch it through an AviSynth filter because it was the wrong framerate. Again, beating this into your heads until someone listens: There is no reason for a DivX/XviD encode to be at any framerate other than the one the movie was originally filmed in. This movie was filmed at 23.976fps. It has been sped up to 25fps. That's wrong.
Anyway....
Video: 7
Initially I was afraid the ghosting of the white characters on the black background didn't bode well for the rest of the film, but after about 10 minutes I caught myself completely ignoring any of the video glitches. The problems with it are subtle, but present: the aforementioned ghosting and some black level problems, which gives the film that faint "cammy" look. It has absolutely no motion blur, however, which is proof positive that it's a TC.
Audio: 7
ASTEROIDS' release of Fear and Lothing in the Chocolate Factory had the same occasional radio interference which this release has in the early parts of the film, along with a peculiar hiss. No WinXP error sounds though, which is good. As many people have reported the audio also has a strange "muffled" quality to it, where some of the middle frequencies seem to literally fall out of the film for a few seconds. It sounds like a brief bit of improper channel mix, as though the mixing of the rear, front and center channels was turned off for a second. How that would happen, I dunno, but that's what it sounds like. Also, as per, the audio has been sped up since the film has been sped up. The Chipmunk-esque effect is not lost on me.
Movie: 7
It wasn't the most amazing thing I've ever seen, but it had its moments. I laughed, I cried... well, except for the crying. Good suspense, a bit short though. At least Wes Craven is making films again. Good ones, that is.
Video nice, audio ok, a little hissy
8/6.5/7
