-- Batman Begins *PAL* - DVDRIP - SCREAM (http://www.vcdhq.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=66335)
you ever thought of doing some research on it. apex for one plays both and as the pot nfo said the cheaper your player the better it is
Can someone post the sub list please ?
Hi gang. Just a few quick points regarding PAL & NTSC. Both have their flaws. NTSC came first and has some issues regarding color hence tv technicians like to refer to it as "Never The Same Color". PAL fixed the color issues and has a noticibly higher resolution but a lower frame rate.
However, while a higher frame rate for NTSC is good for pure television content, it loses out to PAL for films. Film is 24 frames per second. NTSC is 30 (fractionally under in fact but never mind that...) frames per second. To turn 24 frames into 30 frames they have to use a telecine process that extrapolates 6 *fake* frames from the 24 *real* frames that make up each second of footage. It's actually quite a nasty kludge and can lead to noticable jerkyness in panning shots, although Americans are probably so used to this they wouldn't see it!
PAL on the other hand just needs to turn 24 frames per second into 25 frames per second. Easily done by slightly speeding up the movie by about 4%. Pitch correction is usually done on the audio as that also has to be speeded up slightly.
So as you can see there are issues with bringing a movie to either format.
On look another PAL/NTSC fight.
What people in Europe need to realise is, in the US very few DVD players play both, and as far as i know, no TV's can play PAL at all.
UK/Europe is different, most DVD players can convert PAL to NTSC and NTSC to PAL, and all new TV's can play back the raw signal.
A NTSC release is still needed as a PAL one being converted to NTSC by a cheap tacky player wont look as good as a proper NTSC encode as most Hardware convertions are crap.
Also cheap players might play everything, but the pic quality also is shit on a half decent sized TV.
Anyways release wise, pretty nice quality though not stunning.
Good sound too, even though its only 384k Bitrate.
Looks like a R2 Rental release to me and WB always uses low bitrate audio and quickly done menu's on them, but good enough for now.
Only prob is, why leave the trailer in, but cut the sound, and why is the trailer on the same vobs as the movie.
9/8/9
edit: also the German Menu's are still on here, an annoying but quite funny anti-download video and a trippy German thing with kids singing outside a jail, not sure if its another Piracy thing, anyways these should of all been ripped out beforehand, for 3-400mb extra on movie video.
And the source looks like a German Rental DVD
Very nice release. I could care less if its PAL or NTSC. Either or is just as good.

1 of the BEST movies to come out in awhile.
Great
This was a great flick. I do not understand or have the complete knowledge of Pal Vs NTSC. Being in Canada, my 5 Disc Sony dvd player might or might not be able to play PAL. I have never tried, I just use ifoedit and the hack. Every PAL I have tried to play works great. NERO, always gives me an error when burning, but I allow it to continue, and it works great. I have never noticed a reduced picture or sound quality.
As for the movie itself. It was great. This release is wonderful. I have been waiting for a dvd retail for ages now. I will be buying this movie when it comes out.
This movie saved the franchise without a question of a doubt. Finally, Batman returns to his roots. Great job to the group that released this flick, and my appreciation.

nice my dvd player plays PAL its called the Philips DVP642 you should invest in 1 aint expensive less yer a bum
I can't beleive people are still debating PAL/NTSC. I am one of the many that have always had players that play both. BTW, Don't bother with Sony players(if your in NTSC regions), they will not play PAL. Don't know if their PAL market players will play NTSC. Just get a Pioneer, any Pioneer. I have a DV-563A, and it plays everything without a glitch. By far one of the best players for the buck.
Anyways, great release. Played just fine on my NTSC market Pioneer.

YOU CAN CHANGE PAL TO NTSC
You can change PAL to NTSC with Ifoedit.............
Two things that Scream screwed up
1. Anti Piracy Warning, but hey suppose they wanted to keep menus and keep the RETAIL, but still why bother thats atleast 30seconds of video and sound that could have been cut
2. Theatrical Trailer, dunno how many have noticed, but
Scream if you want to leave in a trailer, you might want to leave in the sound for it! They have stripped 2 channel audio, but left in a trailer which only has 2 channel audio, which makes the trailer totally useless and again more space being taken up
Props for the early release and the film is encoded fine with amazing 5.1 on the thing, so they have obviously done well on this, but still leaving in a trailer when you have stripped the sound is just plain silly!
9/9/10,
but can't help thinking they could have made a better encode if they had cut out all the extra stuff!

Its just typical American to complain about the NTSC/PAL thing. Scream released a PAL version. It was their choice, and there will proberly come a NTSC soon!
