it's definately a DVD rip and not a telecine:
V=9 - some compression artifacts
A=10
M=? not watched yet
Am also having probs with subs, like a few people on here - have managed to get them to appear (forced) as an AVi / DivX file, but still struggling to keep them when converting to DVD!?! Try and try again!

I can confirm there is an artifact in the video and it causes the volume to lower. It's located around the 00:08:50 mark, and if you restart the video and go past the mark there's no problem with the sound. I'm using k-lite codeck pack, but when i played it in virtual-dub there were no problems. I tried remuxing it with virtual-dub, but it didn't work.
8/10/9
I really liked this one.
in dark scenes you can really notice the pixelation/blockiness
Rated for a DVD Rip:
V:7
A:10
M:3, extremely boring.. way too long
