If the last couple minutes of the movie look bad, it might be because they set the credits to be encoded at a lower bitrate, and timed it wrong (getting some of the movie itself in the process). I haven't seen it, just a guess as to what might've happened.

why is this rls tagged a nuke now?

after mixing both releases, i give it a 10/8/8 (considering what it is).

Posted by fastlanechic on 12-10-2006 01:51 AM:

what i did was...

USED AVI TRIMMER and trimmed the last few minutes of the pukka release, and added the last few minutes of the astroids release. Perfect!

Posted by kelnar on 12-10-2006 02:20 AM:

yeah i agree with everyone who say this one is the best release.
who cares if asteroids video is better, the audio was unacceptable, volume going up and down through the entire movie is unwatchable unless you are deaf.

at least audio is fine thoughout this movie on this release, so who cares if the last 10 minutes of video is bad quality?
unless of course you prefer watching a movie without half the audio as opposed to watching a movie with a small fraction of video in lower quality but still watchable?

Posted by sirhc on 12-10-2006 05:05 AM:

the audio in this rls is great and the video quality is the same as asteroids, dvd quality. the last 3-4 minutes or so are watchable but they really dont mean much anyway but other than that theres nothing wrong with this rls

the asteroids rls is just horrifically bad audio is just unbearable. Go ahead and nuke this rls but atleast you can can watch 95 percent of this movie as opposed to none of the asteroids rls...

Posted by Iammyself on 12-10-2006 06:20 AM:

this video / synch is fine. this is r5 not telecine... R5 and any pre DVD should be labeled different... the scene is a bit lacking on this... to combat pirates in russia = giving a damn fine video to pirates to sync with english..

is any1 trying to defeat DD2? ahh anyway, with such fine video coming from R5s wtf do I need a retail for if I can hear the audio? If this was the DDR1 times the "bootleg" would be better with audio, but these R5 disks are killing the (bootleg) TC scene "
i find it more than fine that the finest TCs are being released by the industry itself, only to help the USA scene who will just sync up some direct audio and run with it.....

ps on my phillips everythin was ok, even near the credits there was
minimal loss of quality, the credits did pixelate, still though... you didnt miss anything at all, im almost sure i wont upgrade from this copy.... a dvd retail wont do that much more

i havent seen enough r5s to rate as that...as a tc, its beautiful... as a dvd... well i guess thats best to rate against...

8/6.5/7.5 (its ok, lacking somewhere though...

Posted by gunitnucca on 12-10-2006 06:41 AM:

this is the best version out....last few minutes of the video are pixeliated but the audio is direct throughout the whole movie as the asteroids version sound is fucked up....low and high throughout...

grab this rls fuck the nuke!

Posted by kelnar on 12-10-2006 10:14 AM:

the scene has turned to shit if they are gonna let the asteroids one go without a nuke and they nuke this one lmao
this one is watchable, asteroids is not.
yes asteroids might not technically be nuked, but we as a public are getting this one and boycotting the asteroids one so maybe the scene can stfu and listen to us for a change.

Video good. Audio very flat and tinny.

9/6/8

Posted by newdad23 on 12-10-2006 03:08 PM:

Very good release

V - 9 (near vd quality)
A - 7 (goes hollow in a few spots)
M - 2 ( dumbest movie I ever watched. Can't believe I wasted an an hour and a half on this crap)

Posted by FoGgEdOuT on 12-10-2006 03:09 PM:

I decided to mix the Asteroids video, the first like 20 seconds of the asteroids audio (20th Century Fox intro), and bass boosted the Pukka audio and it sounds fine now

Posted by WDude on 12-10-2006 09:26 PM:

Not really sure a proper was necessary but the audio is much better than the asteroids rls. Even with the video problems at the end this is the best release available.

I know a lot of people are against these groups pushing the R5 'catergory' for releases but there should be a standard made, since an R5 is not a TC and they should be labeled properly.

9/7/5

Nice direct audio. Can't say the same for the video. Pretty good, sort of dark, but for the blockiness at the end.

This release (based on DVD for R5 rating purposes)
v=8.5
a=8
m=10

But if you take Asteroids video + invert PUKKA's audio channels and put them together, they are almost, if not, perfectly in sync. Encoded to DVD and perfecto!

Newly encoded rating
v=9.5
a=9
m=10 ...Funniest movie i've seen in a long time!
