I never looked into it hard enough but it is definitely a pg-13 rating yet?

Everywhere I've read, there has been no official source of this anywhere (that I've found at least) and almost any board I go to people are freaking the hell out that it's PG-13.

I can't see them *ever* making a 4th movie to a series of movies that every single one of them has been rated R and making the new one PG-13, it just makes no sense at all.

dont know where this pg-13 talk has come from.

The MPAA and CARA websites have it as being R rated.

I dont see how that matters. It felt like i was watching it edited for tv. Let alone the "Yippee ka ya motherfu(gunshot)" scene, there were several scenes where you could tell they've went back and edited it. one scene you could even see him mouth the words "Motherfucker" and you could hear a quick cut voice over saying "Asshole" or some other such shit overtop of it.

They replaced the grittyness of the first few films with rediculously over the top CGI action sequences.

It might be passable as "OK" if we get an R rated directors cut on dvd. but as it stands its a very weak movie. I wanted to pop a roid while i was watching it.

Thumbs up

Best action film of the year thus far, IMO.

It was ok, I just don't think it should have been called Die Hard. It wasn't a Die Hard movie.

Posted by baha on 07-01-2007 07:55 PM:

Should've been called True Lies 2, not Die Hard 4.

Minor spoilers:

- the bit when he first meets and drags the kid outta the room, and there's glass shot up all over the floor...in Die Hard 4 there would've been cuts and blood galore...in True Lies 2 they get through unharmed.

- loved the lorry/plane bit, truly awesome action. In Die Hard 4 the pilot would've been toast, in True Lies 2 he ejects, we even see him land safely, tuck his parachute away, pull out a cuban and tuck into a spiffing spread of cucumber sandwiches and Earl Grey (made with already boiled mountain spring water).

True, I'd have preferred Carnahan directing and little Lucy to lose a finger to torture (or preferably one of the torturers to lose a finger up her )... but I'm a cheap whore for big action and good CGI...and this movie delivers

7/10 (if you're into popcorn munchers...if you're not why are you even reading this thread??!?)

great film, but not up to the standards of the others.

not nearly enough swearing or violence, and feels to "diluted" to be included in the die hard vein.

Yeah, I'm still holding out for an "unrated" DVD. I've read articles that Fox hired an EFX firm before the final cut had been made of this film to specifically add violence (blood) and the original dialog (swearing) back in. I think it's a big fucking cop out when a studio promises more of a movie on DVD than in it's theatrical run...oh well, a rental is cheaper than a movie ticket anyways.

The first and third are still the best, I loved Jackson in the third. He made it great.

But as this movie stands, It was as good as the second. Over the top CGI, but yeah still a good action flick. I liked it.

I watched Ghost Rider this week, It's on par with Superman Returns. Both utter shit.

Didn't like 3 at all. Original, goes without saying, is excellent. 2 wasn't quite as good, but still a very, very good action flick. 3 was very average IMO.

I'm a big Samuel fan (my sig and av are testament to that), but his presence only lifted the movie from forgettable to average.

I don't know, the beginning with him walking through harlem is something I'll surely never forget

I set the bar really low when I went into seeing this movie and it actually exceeded my expectations at all accounts, it has it's flaws like over the top CGI and too heavy 'zomg every hacker knows every system when they sit down at it," and much like die hard 3, they couldn't write a solid enough story with just bruce willas so they had to rely on the old "they're partners, and they're different, comedy will ensue!" ... which has just been played to death.

Decent popcorn action flick, bad die hard movie.
