In America maybe, but if you had read my post and not been distracted by a burger in the corner of your eye you would have read that in most places in the the UK you cant pre-order the unit itself (which should be 425 UK Pounds! ), you have to purchase game packs pushing the price over 500 UK Pounds!

The Xbox 360 (WITH game) is 269 UK Pounds! and the HD DVD unit is 119 UK Pounds! (with free HD DVD) which equates to 388 UK Pounds!

NOW even if I could get a base PS3 with NO games and NO free film the 360/HD DVD is still 37 UK Pounds! cheaper (or 74 USD if you are so inclined)

So.. Buy a PS3 with no games and no film and pay MORE or buy a 360/hd dvd combo, get a free game and film and pay less?

Simple...... i bought the 360

No thanks, i'll wait until HD TV comes down in price a bit more.

CRT HD looks great too, might be worth an investment. For now, for me personally, HD is not a viable investment just yet so i'll hang on for another year or so.

You're neglecting the fact that not only is the bluray unnecessary, its been forced down your throat. Sony is using its customers to push its new format which may or may not flop.. i mean look at their track record with new format introductions..

plus in our hobby. why would you need it? theres far more HD content available to download and stream than there is blu ray movies or even HDdvd movies combined.

bottom line.. ps3 was a flop, and has been named as such by several pubilcations.

If you read between the lines what they're saying is that 100% guaranteed delivery on all existing pre-orders (existing pre-orders being people that have already ordered) in other words you pre-order it then they tell you that you're too late too get guaranteed launch date delivery but it will be as soon as they have them in stock ( as they have always done )

MS must be pretty confident. I was hoping they would drop the price of the 360 a few weeks before the ps3 launch. No chance of that by the looks of it though (although i'd still buy one over a ps3).

ps3 sucks because of blu-ray..dual layer dvd is all thats needed. ive never seen a game that takes up all 9.4gb, what makes you think we need bluray? ive seen the paradox rips sizes, theyre no where near the size of blu-ray
360 will win this war, with the wii in 2nd place.
