-- Halloween *XViD* - WORKPRINT - mVs (http://forum.vcdq.com/showthread.php?threadid=78168)
According to Dark Horizons the WP is vastly different to the final release

This leak is more interesting in that it's the film's 'work print,' the version shown to test audiences back in June which was panned and lead to a rushed week of reshooting to change the ending and "beef up" the gore quotient (allegedly six more deaths were added in).
Not only does it imply somebody in the production process leaked it (rather than exhibitors or audience members with cameras), but also gives insight into the test screening process as to what about the film has been changed.
Right off the bat for example, the 'sample clip' being offered with the torrent shows off a disgustingly brutal gang rape by guards on a female prisoner in front of Michael. It's a scene that is non-existent in the final film in theatres, replaced by a thankfully tamer 'escape scene'.

I just watched this, and i have mixed feelings on it. The deaths were unoriginal, the characters were shallow and undeveloped, the ending anti-climatic and uninspired, and i think Zombie humanized Myers too much. The opening sequence with the Myers family was way too long, & it kinda took away from Myers character rather than add anything. He isnt as supernatural now as he is in the original, more like your every day serial killer. After the backstory, the movie is pretty much ripped scene by scene from Carpenters masterpiece (down to Myers dressing as a ghost with the glasses over his sheet) At the same time, seeing "The Shape" again was nice and the acting wasnt too terrible. All in all i really hope the producers cut is better or else this film will go down as another below average hollywood remake.

They did a good job with the watermark and the movie was pretty good.

With the exception of the blurred spot the movie wasn't half bad.
Video and Audio were better than some movies i've watched but all in all not bad.

Got to love having people on the INSIDE.. saw this copy yesterday looks great havent' watched it yet..
8/7.5/?
Cool that this is a different cut than what will be out on Friday.
I mean, as cool as it'd be to have the version the masses will see this weekend, it's cooler having the cut only a handful saw (and derided, though really it isn't bad) earlier on.

Long on gore, short on suspense....
Looks and sounds really good Picture is great quality and sound is very clear/loud, a bit loud on effects. For a workprint this is topnotch. Little blur but doesn't take away from the viewing experience. I saw a few parts that were out of the ordinary but nothing too noticeable. This release is from 5/??/07 (I don't remember the day off the top of my head) so would imagine some things have been changed in the final cut. Will be watching this tonight and seeing it at the cinema. Was hoping for this. Thank you.
Edit: Really a good movie, loved it. Not a lot of suspense, but highly entertaining. I like how it's somewhat of prequel, really gives you insight into his life as a child. Can't wait until Friday.

Great video - bright colors and sharp. Audio was great too, although i had a filling the copy was taken from a sound lab during the finishing process.
The Original movie was great, so this remake has big shoes to fill - will watch it tonight.

Agree with some of the above comments. Zombie tried to add extra back story with the first part of the film but all we see is a short fat kid that looks like a girl with girly long hair that somehow becomes Myers.
The second half of the film is the best bits from the original ripped off. I feel if you've seen the original it ruins it.
Overall its not bad but not particularly great either.
No real problems with the release except it gets really dark at the end and you really can't see what's happening.
I'd say fuck yeah thanks mVs for an awesome Pre-release. Quality is great.

but i do admit for a workprint its good

Watched it Thurs. 9/9/8
Great vid, and aud. I don't recall the oring. but this version was decent. If there were to be a Halloween 2, I don't see it. Basically killed off the character. It was kept in limited areas so not too bad. I just we need a TS now of the Final film lol
Watched this last night on a standalone DVD player, 36 in Sony TV and Sony Surround Sound system-
