NB: "Legal Tender" means you can be forced to accept it as payment. Acceptance of Ulster or Scottish banknotes is entirely voluntary.

I had no idea that Scottish notes could be refused (haven't come across too many NI ones to be of concern). In fact, a good few years ago, I remember giving a cashier in one of the Ladbrokes shops I managed a dressing down for not accepting a Scottish note "which everyone knows is legal tender" (or words to that effect I used)...
