Thumbs down typical ctp =\\

ok movie, decent quality, great dupe!

ctp used to be great now they release svcd's that have bad interlacing ( u see huge blurs during times of movements ) this can easily be remedied by using an ivtc plugin whenever u encode the videos =\

i do download ctp svcd ts's ( even this one ) mainly because all other releases before CTP's suck way bad and ctp's has only that 1 flaw ( bad deinterlacing ) and u got to love thier 2:35.1 ar =D

anyway props for doing a decent quality rip of this movie
if u have managed to sit through ctp ts's ( recent ones ) before u can manage this one out i suppose ( hey ma' no blue tint! ).

if you got eso's u will be fine with it no need in this =X

It seems that the blue tint problem has been resolved. (though the sample may not be the best to judge by). Anyway stuff semms up to par for these guys in every other way.

Just curious if there were any opinions on the matter.

here's my take:

ppl had been used to pretty crappy TS releases (mostly poorly filmed & poorly encoded asian 'silvers' that were ripped & released as TS), and i think that few ppl had seen a decent TS. CTP telesyncs were different, and people were amazed by the fact that they could get a movie so close to release date, with quality that was not all that far under a screener; and since they seemed to be getting better with each release, they built up quite a fan base.

soon people began to eagerly await ctp telesyncs (in much the same way that you'll hear "i'll wait for the dvdscreener" all the time, ppl would say "i'll wait for the CTP"), and the demand for them was such that CTP didn't really need to bother worrying about whether another group had released an un-nuked TS yet; they knew that if they released one a couple of days later, enough ppl would clamor for it that sites would take it. before long they stopped bothering even to label their releases "proper" or whatever, they just came out with them and ppl took them, whether they'd been "beaten" or not.

some people found this attitude a bit arrogant i think, and so that was the beginning of the controversy; another form of the old argument in the movie scene, where one side says "hey, they got beat, they didn't follow the rules, the original release should have been nuked by sites if it wasn't good enough, and if it was, then this one should be nuked," and the other side saying "hey, ctp is the best, it's all about the quality, if you don't like it fuck off, i'm getting this release because it looks better than all the others, you'd have to be a fool not to see that".

then, ctp decided to start releasing SVCD telesyncs, something which was totally against the "rules" that apply to such things. their explanation was that since the films were shot on DV cam, that using SVCD got a bit more quality out of them, as opposed to, say, a vhs screener, where there seems no point to using svcd, since the ultimate potential quality of VCD is about equivalent to the max quality from a vhs tape (btw, there are many who do not buy into this argument; at this point, the jury still seems to be out). no other group would have been able to get away with it; but ppl wanted quickly released movies in good quality, and ctp was pretty much the only option for that, and since it seemed that they had decided that this is how they were going to release them from now on, then people could either download the svcd, or wait a couple of months for a screener. sites were somewhat forced to accept them, despite the rules, because everybody wanted them.

this, then, kicked off even more controversy, with some saying "who the fuck do they think they are, foisting off this SVCD TS crap; what's next, DVDR CAM's" or "there's no point to SVCD TS, since the best possible TS will never be utilizing the full potential of even VCD, so SVCD is just a waste of time, bandwidth, and often a 3rd disc" (by the way, for those who always say "get dsl then, if you don't like to use the extra bandwidth", you should be aware that the argument refers to the overall extra bandwidth load that SVCD TS's put onto the scene's sites, not the extra bw that the end user has to use) -- and on the other side, people were saying "these are great, you have no right to try to tell them how they can release something, they're trying to push the boundaries of quality in the scene, their stuff kicks ass over anybody else's TS, and so if they want to release as SVCD in order to get even more quality, then i'm all for it," or "well, they don't care what you think, so if you don't want it you're SOL, because this is how they're going to be from now on".

adding to this controversy was the fact that it really is not clear whether mpeg-2 (SVCD) encodes of TS's really makes them any better, or at least whether it makes them enough better to justify how much larger they are (and there is also a compatibility issue, tho that is less of a factor these days). ctp's SVCD TS release of 'spiderman' looked really good, and so proponents of the method used this release as proof that CTP was right to switch to SVCD; but others pointed to their final VCD releases (such as the excellent 'resident evil' VCD TS), saying "i agree that they do excellent TS, but they were continuing to improve and to release excellent quality when they were using VCD, 'resident evil' is just as good as any of their SVCD releases, and proves that SVCD is not needed for TS," or "look at one of TCF's VCD screeners... they look better than a CTP TS, which is understandable because they are from a better source, but my point is that it proves that there is more than enough potential quality in the VCD format to handle any TS that will ever be released"; and so the arguments continued.

then, just when people were sort of starting to settle down about that, CTP announced that they were going to release their movies strictly for their own small, private circle, and that anyone inside that circle who passed on a CTP rls to another site would be denied access to future ctp releases. this was done as a ruse, in order to identify and plug a 'leak'.. someone in their group, or a siteop on one of their pre's, or whomever - someone with access to their releases before they were pre'd - and, having identified (and presumably 'plugged') the leak, they announced that they were back, and that it was business as usual.

however, very soon after this, people began to notice that they had stopped releasing, at least 'to the public', altogether; there were various theories about why this was, some saying that the person who had done the camming had been 'busted', others claiming that they were still releasing but had 'gone private', etc. there had been quite a bit of resentment over what many thought of as an 'elitist' attitude when they had previously announced that they were going private... even tho that had turned out to be a ploy, the aftertaste of it remained for many, so that when they disappeared soon after, some began to say that it was because they 'thought they were such hot shit that nobody else deserved to get their movies', etc. etc...

it got to be so that everyone was sick to death of hearing about the whole issue. it had finally begun to fade, when they released a DVDRIP (something which they had occasionally done before, but which had gone largely unnoticed in the shadow of their unique TS releases). this stirred up the whole thing again, and as they went on to randomly release the occasional dvdrip, some scoffed at them in the sense of "how the mighty have fallen", whereas some said "you're lucky to be getting anything from them, they don't owe you shit, and they already did plenty for us"... while others continued to maintain that they'd been releasing the whole time, but in private, either because of security, because they didn't give a shit about the end user but only about the scene & their friends in it, and still others saying it was because they were 'stuck up'.

in the meantime, TCF released a TS of '8 mile', which most considered the best TS that they'd seen since CTP's releases, and which some thought was even better than any of CTP's. also, it was released in VCD, not SVCD, which started up the whole argument about that again, some saying "very nice, now if only you would do it in SVCD", and others saying "there's the proof that CTP releasing as SVCD was bullshit, TCF's VCD looks at least as good if not better". to further complicate the issue, TCF included a 2nd sample along with the regular release sample, this one encoded as mpeg-2 (svcd). some saw that sample and said "yes, yes, release as svcd, that looks/sounds better"... the problem was, however, that the two samples were not very easily compared... the VCD, due to an encoding mishap, ended up with somewhat compressed/muffled sound compared to the SVCD, and many were not clear on the fact that the format had nothing to do with the sound, only with the video (sound was 224Kbit dual-channel mono in both cases); also, they were sized differently -- while both had correct AR, the encoder of the VCD chose to make the release as close to original, wide-screen format as possible, whereas the SVCD encoder chose to "pan and scan" it a bit (which is acceptable in the case of TS's); and so many people got the impression that they "could clearly see the increased resolution of the SVCD sample", when in fact it was possible that they were only thinking that because of the fact that the SVCD video image was 'taller' (because of the pan'n'scan).

many were set to switch their allegience over to TCF at that point, feeling abandoned by CTP; however, TCF did not immediately begin doing regular TS releases, as many had assumed that they would; and when, later, they did release a couple more TS's, most people did not feel that they were of the same high quality as the 8 mile release, causing some to think that 8 mile was a 'fluke'. TCF put various explanations in their nfo's about how they were still continuing to develop their TS methodology, but many people felt disappointed that they didn't immediately 'step into the shoes' left vacant by CTP.

and now recently, CTP has begun to once again releasie TS's, and they are again in SVCD format. however, the consensus is that their quality is good, but not what it used to be, and so this brings a fresh round of argument, both over whether or not the releases are as good, and over whether if they aren't as good, the svcd format should be allowed... well, you get the picture.

jeebuz that was fxn long. yada yada yada.

Is it me or does the release appear sort of dark? It seems there is still a slight bluish to it, but the sky doesnt flicker which is a plus. However, it appears the accomplished this by darkening the film. Maybe im wrong, but it does look dark.

It may be long, but a nice sum up of the CTP debate by lo.pro

Superb release for a telesync: 8/8/? (Watching later)

It may be a bit on the blue side, but this is still a good release with crisp picture and nice sound. Eso's rls was very good too, but this is the one I would rather keep. Once again, good job CTP!

Could running this through TMPGEnc and doing color correction and turning the blue down make the blue tint go away? If so I would just do this with all of CTP's new TS's. Plz tell me if it would help, if so when I am done downloading I will do that

Talking cradle 2 the grave

Top realese from centropy sound & pic very good better than daredevil.Shame about the film it's all done before!

Finally decided to watch this last night, it was a great release, but a shitty movie. Anyways the picture was very good not as good as their 2002 releases, but still very good. Pic was kinda grey and didnt have great contrast levels (not as bad as daredevil) but was still very good. Their was blue tint in a few scenes, but other then that great sharp picture quality.

Video: 8

I found the sound on this release to be not as good as their daredevil release. The sound was still very excellent, my only complaint is that it had a louder buzz. I must take in to consideration that I had it blasting on my sound system pretty loud though. And the buzz was only noticeable in very quiet scenes when no one is talking. Apart from that it was great, this is how TS's should sound.

Sound: 9

Movie was shite, apart from that super sexy black girl (dont know her name) their is really nothing to look forward to in this movie.

Movie: 3

Oh yeah, and as usual I was looking forward to their intro, but they just used the same one as they used in their Star Wars: Episode II release. Anyways great release, keep it up CTP.
