Barely on topic question, but: Why dont they use an NTSC source for telecines? Can they not telecine straight to 24fps video?

About the subs..

The subs are useless, approx ½ of the time the actors speak, there is NO subs.. If you where not able to hear all the sound, u would miss out on ½ of the dialog in the movie.

Could have been ALOT better!

I don't know about other Telecines, but this was from a russian source and Russia uses PAL like most other countries besides Asian and North American countries do.

It's actually better for me, I like PAL better and I can use my video output instead of the RGB one (they say that RGB is better, but my TV is old and it doesn't really work well so I rather use Video output).

Very nice rls best out there by a long shot no other can come close, yeah its from a russian source more thumbs up to those in Chakra to take the time to match it with supberb sound. nice one lads you kept the many very happy indeed.

As for those who moan about the LOTR trilogy dont watch them if you think they are shit then we wouldnt have to put up with reading your shit, each to his own....just keep it to yourself

Wow, this rls is excellent for a telecine. It's really too bad that I've watched the screener too many times to bother with this one, but watched a friends copy. Excellent Video Quality, much sharper than the ring, Great Audio, much better bass and no sync issues on cd3 and cd4. An of course the movies awesome. This sucker clock in at over 3 gigs so be prepared to wasted some serious space, definitely worth it, best rls so far. Oh yeah and definitely read the NFO, this copy is a dupe of a Russian rls and there are some subtitles.

9/9/9

Hi,

Just got the whole thing, it is nice, it's dark in the dark scenes, really dark. I was going to re-encode it until I had seen the Diamond release, 3cd xvid with Ac3 5.1. So I think I'm holding off right now on this one till I get all of Diamond's.

Diamond Release??

So does "Diamond" have a re-encode of this??? I have not seen that anywhere so I am curious. I agree, the dark scenes (which is a lot of the moive) are pretty dark even if you adjust on tv. So I am wondering if there is a new re-encode that is better. This version is by far incredible compared to anything else that has been released. If whoever "Ring" is they could have made it perfect being they had a VHS screener but obviously they do not know how to capture. And yes before anyone flames me I do knwo a great deal about capturing VHS tapes, that is what I do for a living at by job.
