Well the official Jap release as expected does not have english during the japanese parts (it just wouldn't make sense). So the print they are using must not have the subtitles burned in obviously. There is nothing to proper then as this is how the Jap release really is.

There is speculation (though no one has got it yet that I know of) that the thai release is supposed to still have the subs during the japanese parts (makes sense) and will have obviously the original english track and be fully uncut.

The korean version which many thought would be uncut is not fully uncut like the japanese one and even has a couple other small things removed (or at least I am told).

The patch works but is nothing more than few clicks in ifoedit anyways (for those that can't find the patch, use ifoedit).

That is all I have read, hope the information is correct and maybe we will see a thai release soon.

Many people know that the original rip had always on subs.  This has "ALIEN" subs, which means, only on during jap parts.  Should turn themselves on by default so you can sit back  and enjoy the fun! Rock on and peace out!    BTW I didnt apply the ppf thing that was floating around,  if you care you can use ifoedit and fix the ifos yourself,  thats all the dumbshit who made a OMFG FIX did. =)    To do this rip i used some eleet tools also, props  to the ppl, especially ifoedit author and subrip.    This goes out to the mrox peeps keepin it real. Enjoy  this hotness! No menu because, frankly, noone can even  read the jap one anyways, and I had no clue how to relink  it back into the video :-)~    Props to TWCISO who made this possible, and to my #1 thug Frosty.    Oh and if you dont like the sub colors, change em yourself =)

well i just watched the crazy88 fight and its got bits in their that are not in the R1 US....


first thing I noticed when she jumps onto that guys shoulders and slices the guys mouth open she also slices the hands of the guy shes standing on, after which she jumps off and slices a guy in two!!!

No disrespect to you, but why do the majority of folks think the R2 Japanese edition is not uncut or has nothing different to the R1 release?

For god sake, Quentin Tarantino has already stated the Japanese edition is different and was especially made for them. So of course the Crazy 88 fight was going to be different when it's already been well documented that that scene is one of the more notable differences to any version released outside Japan!

This post wasn't specifically aimed at you, just those that still refuse to believe.

Of course. You have to delete all the subs except the ones for the japanese spoken parts. Make a new subtrack and reauthor the dvd. but thats something for the freaks who got alot of time on their hands...... not for people who work 5 days a week for example.

how does one fix this in ifoedit?

anyone have problems with the extras? They don't seem to work for me as they lock up the dvd when i try to view them.

I heard about it... It is movie only (no menu or trailer), and has forced subs during jap spoken parts only.

Not sure what to think of this though. Menu and trailer is always welcome. Apparantely his subtitle color is annoying also (but there is a fix for that).

This is a UseNet exclusive release apparently.

Well, what I meant is some guy on UseNet made that release...

On a side note, I got a hold of that version with the forced subs. Completely useless... Movie only, and missing around 60% of the subs (12-15 lines of speech NOT subbed, out of approx 20-23!!). Complete waste of time, especially since the original subs (English throughout) have been ripped also!

Maybe there will be yet another PPF patch with a another release... I don't see the fun ending anytime soon.

ok.....heres a little guide for everyone. it takes less than an hour but once you are done you will have the full movie, menu, and the extras, and subtitles when japanese is spoken.

Here it is:

Copy the VIDEO_TS folder to my HD
Start Vobedit
Click Open and choose VTS_03_1.vob
Click demux button
Select demux all video streams
select demux all audio streams
Load DVD-Maestro
double click in asset bin (bottom right)
select my .ac3
repeat and select .m2v
right click on Movie1 under project and select Edit Movie
drag my movie and ac3 assets into the timebar
right click in subs bit (ABC) and choose import subtitles file (read further to get the file)
choose tools -> compile
give it a location
rename VTS_01_1 -> VTS_03_1
rename VTS_01_2 -> VTS_03_2
rename VTS_01_3 -> VTS_03_3
rename VTS_01_4 -> VTS_03_4
copy ONLY these 4 renamed vobs to the original VIDEO_TS folder, overwriting the originals.
load ifoedit
click open and choose video_ts.ifo
click on get vts sectors
answer yes to process all
save the altered vts's
burn, you are done.



For the subtitles file do this:

Awesome harbinger thanks I am off to do it right now. I was going to do this manually myself by comparing the cut US version but I assumed that the time difference would cause a huge problem. Glad someone else did it

Works great, plays great, and I'm lovin the new (although small) parts not included in the north american retail rls.

Question: any extras on the dvd? I can't read jap, i browsed around but didnt get anything special going.

Subtitles are no problem whatsoever, turn them on/off if u really need them so desparately...

for the step....repeat and select .m2v

when loading that into the asset bin I got the error:
media detection error (0xc10b0001)

this may be because the file has a "Riff header" i was unable to find a way to convert it though. I did try VCDeasy. Anyone else get this?
