-- The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou *SVCD* - DVD SCR - TheFly (http://www.vcdhq.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=51643)
Great release. I have been waiting to see this movie, and I don't live in N.Y. or L.A., so I got it before the release date in my city.
This may have come from a DVD Screener, but I really doubt that it was ripped off the DVD.
1) it's interlaced
2) it has black area on the sides
No studio is going to master a DVD like this, especially not for a film that is obviously an oscar contender.
My guess would be that this was recorded onto something like SVHS and then recapped, but that is just a guess. I could be totally wrong as well.
9/9/0 very boring movie dont waste ur time

Video is good, I have seen better for DVD screeners, and the watermarks are not too bad. The audio is excellent, but I think overall a better job could have been done.
7/8/8
9000k Maxbitrate, skips in my DVD Player, had to recode it down..
Decent quality, I almost forgot about the watermarks at the top and bottom as they are barley visible, I didn't find them a distraction.
7.5/8/7.0
Did not enjoy this film as much as Wes Anderson's other films. Need to watch it again to really appreciate it I guess.

mastered poorly as fuck, i might add. obviously a rushed screener of some sort [not on the release side. i mean on how it was crappily mastered by the company] - awesome - ive been waiting for this movie for a long time, great rls, cant wait to see full!
7 [the video is poor, not the grps fault] / 9 / +10

Great release but what the hell is this movie about. I suggest not to drink while watching, was told this would be good but lost interest. 9 across the board.
V-10
A-10 (normal T.V., couldn't find anything wrong with it)
M-7.5
"Property of" is there the entire movie, but translucent letters, and you can't see it in some parts.
Does anyone know how to get this dvd to work? It won't even play in my PowerDvd and WinDvd, it just doesn't play at all. My older version of PDVD didn't even recognize it and my newer version just doesn't even play it, it's just black. How would I get this to work?>

powerdvd 6 works for me.
great release. seems a little bit blurry, but way better than a threatre release.

codec?
I have tried playing this to no avail. I have installed almost every codec known to man. Windows Media Player classic and Power dvd 6 do not play this movie, video just shows up garbled. What codec do I need or is there something else im missing?
crap! burned this for my `rents over x-mas. i guess the friens they lend it to will be disapointed. at least they got to see it.
V: Looked fine on my TV, nothing to complain about = 8
A: Spanish David Bowie
Nothing Spectacular in the movie, no crackle, etc = 10
M: I thought it was pretty funny, the dry wit was great. Murray`s still funny = 8

Thanks for the release but after watching the movie, I have come to the conclusion that this is indeed the biggest piece of shit I have ever seen. I cannot believe that movie studios would fund a turd like this. Of course it wouldn't surprise me if it gets nominated for some stupid awards. Trust me, I felt like I wasted 2 hours of my life after watching this feces pile. It doesn't make sense, it doesn't make a point and it just flat out sucks ass, IMHO!!
Otherwise
Video- 9
Audio-8
Movie-0.5 (in case you didn't figure that out)
