For all the people who are saying this is a re-encode, learn what the word means first. This is not a re-encode, this is the original. A re-encode is taking media, and changing it to another format. There are no other formats of this release, therefor it is not a re-encode.

A Re-ecode would be like Maven releaseing an SVCD and then another group releasing the same source in Xvid.

Anyways... After checking out a few rars and a the sample...

V: 8 - SUPERB for a TS!
A: 8 - A bit bassy, but it'll do...
M: n/a - Will watch all of it later

all this talk about re-encodes makes me wanna head over to tmd and download a 200mb avi file that looks like garbage and has the tmd-moviez tag across the bottom ruining the release. just kidding, i wouldn't waste my time

Well I purchased my replacement standalone like 3 or 4 months ago and paid a little extra for it because of DivX playback capability. So far I've had success with one DivX/Xvid format disc playing on it w/o big blocks everywhere and the color/image being extremely distorted (Philips DVP-642 I believe).

So I was reluctant to get this copy at first, I had planned to convert it. I didn't think the WUF svcd was gonna be worth it. To my surprise, this copy works on my standalone AND looks/sounds good. At least good enough for me. It is a little discolored in dark spots for me, could just be my player. Minor motion blur, not distracting though.

Sound seems good for me as well, I don't have the volume up very high at all and I'm hearing everything clear, the parts where they play the cassette player need some additonal volume.

Decent, fast work maVen.

grab a piece of software called vso divxtodvd converter.
load up the xvid and click convert.
it produces a VIDEO_TS folder after about an hour. this can be burnt using nero as a dvd movie or i like to convert this to iso format using imgtools and keep it stored on my hard disk.

ack, 1hour?

This is the original... so maven used an xvid camcorder to capture this?

Overall, the quality is great...best of the releases for this movie without a doubt. However, I have my doubts as to whether the audio is direct. I swear I hear coughing a few times throughout the movie...take for example the very beginning when the TV comes on and the puppet says, "Hello Michael, I want to play a game." Listen carefully in the pause between "Michael" and "I want..." and you will hear someone coughing.

No big deal, as I said quality is still great, just warrants mentioning.

But reencodes aren't what we really want.

Please encode in SVCD-format again.

XViD is for pr0n on PC-screen, always used SVCD for TV, because it's the best, and supported by ALL standalone-players.

Btw. have seen the sample .. nice job, as usual

".. XViD, to better suit our supreme quality .."

But TSs are always a little bit blurry, so SVCD is OK ;D
Make a SVCD-rls, too. And let the ppl decide what's best ..

Traffic doesn't matter ..

Anyway - when the movie starts here in cinema (06/feb/09) there will be a DVDRip in SVCD-format

ahh, poor baby not gonna be able to sell this as easy?

in any case, i think this is a good copy, but not worth all the praise its getting. best out, sure. appreciated, definately. but these 9's and 10's are just dumb.

Buahahaha. Now that's funny

Release:

Video: 8 Awesome! Best TS in a while. I'm glad for the xvid... maVen will certainly pave the way for other groups to rls in xvid.

Audio: 7 A little low and hollowy, but otherwise excellent. But it still doesn't sound direct...

Movie: 6 eh.... i thought the 1st one was better

They were being smartasses. Prodigy keeps making claims that their TC's are really TC. But in reality half of them turn out to be TS's. :-)

Thank you, maVen, for leading the charge to abandon the older MPEG formats in the pre-retail universe. The scene needed a high-profile group to take this big step, and I didn't think it would happen so soon. You have my support. (No more nukes for XviD TS! )

xvid is the easiest conversion ever for a dvd. Just use Winavi, or dvd santa, they convert xvids real easy and real fast.

well, if you're going to use crap programs to convert, that kind of defeats the purpose of having xvid instead of SVCD.

Anyway, I prefer SVCD because I can burn to DVD without converting. I prefer xvid's when they have surround sound.

If people move to xvid for the negligible quality improvement, though, so be it. I'll spend 70 or 80 bucks on an additional player. Complaining about it is just not right.

8/7/?

I think peeps are being generous on this one.

V = 7 - OK but too blurry for an 8
A = 6 - Not that good. The bass is high and quite often drowns out the dialogue.
M = ? - Got pissed off with the bass and decided to wait for a better release (If one comes along!).

Thanks for the release maVen and who gives a fuck what format it's in? Keep up the good work!
