m: ? - M. Night's films are always worth a watch, but as for now ive only skimmed parts.

Agreed! But is the NFO incorrect? Says 2CD's but only was able to locate a 1CD release...

v: 8 - slight flicker
a: 9 - nice and DIRECT.
M: SUCKED! STUPID! Saw this in the theatre and bailed on it about 45 minutes in.

If this is or is not a MaVen rls I couldn't care less. It's pretty crappy.
Way too much pixilation, there is that flicker, and the dark scenes are just that, dark. Still probably the best release to date but that's not saying too much. The rest are even crappier.

V 6

A 6

M ? Am watching now. May be able to stomach the quality

Posted by x1covers-mojo on 07-26-2006 06:44 PM:

I just watched the first 30 minutes of it and its much better than the XanaX version!! Nice job Maven....it is not fake. It is not the same source as the XanaX version..

Video - 7
AUdio - 8
Movie...not done with it

Posted by z00mba on 07-26-2006 08:34 PM:

Considering the fact the movie is really dark, the quality and compression of this release is pretty good. Still camed dark movies are often painful to watch.

V: 7 - By far the best quality avaible atm.
A: 8
M: 1 - Boring, stupid... this guy has a constant quality drop with every new project he directs. Now this is real crap.

I watched sample, video looks fine, sure not their best release but 10 times better than what's out there. Pretty much what you are gonna get til a TC or dvd rip comes out.

Hope they come out with Monster House and Devil Wears Prada next

you totaly sux and just don't know what you are talking about.

Roger, you're the one who blows. Alexnasty was right. Why are people saying Maven is back.....they never left. They were about to release Pirates last week but Dank and Pukka stole their source. Hence, thats why u saw the screenshots up for a lil bit and then they got taken down. They obviously couldn't release it so they just moved on to Lady in the Water. So Roger, before you start insulting people, know your shit first. I think Maven is an awesome group and their nfo's in the past have targeted other groups but this nfo was directed at us. When you set a standard for high quality, what do you expect people to do. You (Maven) need to learn how to take constructive criticism. I judge each release according to their quality and don't care about the group name. And by the way, why do some of the dark movies come out dark and other dark ones don't. You would think once you fix or solve the cam brightness problem on dark movies, then any other dark movie after that would be fine. After all the shit talking to other groups, you (Maven) probably don't shoot all of your releases afterall. Please don't take anymore shots at the public, without us nobody would care about you.

Now the rating for this movie

Video: 6 Good on the day scenes, unwatchable during night.
Audio: 8 Loud and clear audio. Outta sync in a couple spots
but no biggie.
Movie: 2 Horrible. I hope Mr Knight gets a clue and gets back
to making hits like "Signs" and "The Sixth Sense".

Video: 6 -> the cam gets hit or something and it goes off screen for like 5-10secs miss half a scene or what not and also it's dark at points

Audio: 8 -> clean sound

Movie: 7 -> it wasn't that bad, but i felt it was rushed and if it got a bit more extended it would of been better

What can i say...its dark. You're right, i know it. Its a very dark movie, and even with some brightness/gamma correction, there are still some scenes that are just black where you can't tell whats going on. Its still the best cop out, and probably the best we'll get until a screener. It not cropped bad at all like others mentioned. AR is good, and i'm not seeing pixilation like others are complaining about. Video is nice except for the dark scenes. at 52:30, the camera is dropped, and has to be readjusted, and refocused for a few minutes.
Audio is great. Direct, with no FM static, or glitches. Absolutely NO sync problems.
I was highly disappointed with this movie. I read good reviews, and was expecting another Signs, but this was nowhere near the same caliber. This is definitely at the bottom of the M.Night list for me. Glad i didn't spend $ on it.

Went in with an open mind, and I suprisingly liked M's Village which was slaughtered by critics as this one is being. But... this film is absolute Crap. A 'What were they thinking? [besides cash]' movie. Boring as hell and add to that some mediocre acting. Pass this one up.

V6 [dark, check] A7 M2

Ehh. What can I say?

Audio - 8
Audio is still improving, it seems. Good to know that even tho the vid didn't turn out how they wanted, they still made sure they got a great audio source.

Movie - ?
I'm scared to watch this now. I saw the commercials and figured it would suck, then I saw the trailer when I went to see potc 2 and thought it might be cool. Now I've read that everybody here thought it sucked.....

On another note, I just saw a maven tagged rls on IRC of You Me & Dupree, but the sample looked like the mavensupplier rls, only more pixely and washed colors. Not that it's really relavent, but just to let anyone else who comes across it know.

Umm u all need to get your facts straight . Pukka and DaNk source was NOT maVen, but was a .ru source labled tc taken off some torrent site and synced with english audio. I know for a fact maVen wouldnt let DaNk steal their source and get away with it and there was no NFO complaining of this, so this is their first new pre since Superman Returns and thus having knowledge, that ORC and maVen share sources nowadays since they are the only ones doing homemade shit anymore, which is proven by their thanking each other in their .nfo's . Anyhow here is my review of the release:

It is a bit too dark to see in the pool scenes but everything else is classic maVen and Homemade. Just thank them for doing a good job with an underated fantasy film and move on.

Video -7- (would be an 8 other than couple scenes that are too dark to barely make out what is going on.) Also interesting to NOT a Very rare instance that a maVen pre has a couple scenes of camera adjusting mid film. Does NOT detracts much from the film however.
Audio - 8 - Good Direct audio as usually and has been getting better and better since Xmen 3 pre
Movie - 6.5 - knowing that this film is pure fantasy going in helps with the enjoyment of the film. Poorly marketed in my opion.

These are the Facts believe what u will but this is my story and IM sticking 2 it!!

Big ups to all groups keeping it old skool homemade style in this sea of subpar talent that now makes up the rest of the so called scene!!

ENJOY THE SHOW.
