American Pit bulls were rightly banned, the fact that one ate a 5 year old girl should prove that.

They are banned, there is only a handful in the country, one of those few ate a little girl. Post your stories about labs or alsations if you like but there has to be 100 times more of that breed of dog about.

By your logic every breed i listed above should be banned as well then? I want to hear you say it. If pits deserve to be banned, and that particular incident proves it, then each of the aforementioned breeds should be banned to. Thats what your saying, just without saying it. So go ahead and say it man, tell me that the dalmation, doberman, greyhound, golden retreiver, black lab, & german shepard all should be banned.

After reading this it is apparent that you have read nothing i have said in this thread, you are not creating counterpoints at all, only creating new points which i then shut down. Then you create a new point, etc.. etc.. etc..

I mentioned that pit is a very very common dog in the US right now already, .things in the UK must be very different then the States. Here the pit is one of the most popular dogs in the country, as far as #s of that breed in the country, not reputation. And even so they dont take any of the top attack stats here.

I have already said some of that just like 1 post ago ^which is how i know you havnt payed attention to anything i said thus im wasting my time on you. It seems as if you want to just get last word in even if i have owned you this whole time, like your trying to just get out of this convo without being completely shut down. There aren't many american pit bulls in the u.k, yet one of those few ate a kid.

Theres thousands more labs and alsations in the country so for the ban to be proven wrong there would have to be thousands more labs and alsations eating kids. They don't, I rest my case.

Or it was illegal because he didnt follow the restrictions and standards to own a pit bull? Where on that page does it say that Pit Bulls are banned? You realize that because it says he had an illegal pit bull, it doesnt mean pit bulls are banned. They are still legal here, but that doesnt mean there is no such thing as an illegal pit bull. A certain set of standards have to be met to own them. Im looking at a handfull of sites that say it is legal to own them as long as you follow the rules/precautions in the UK.

In response to a dog attack on a child, GERMANY recently passed legislation banning three breeds of dogs: American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Terrier and Pit Bulls.

This is total misinformation designed to mislead and biased in a way to reveal only parts of the story. Let's blame the breed, as it must be the breed and could not be the person! They actually banned 47 breeds NOT 3! Because the full truth is not told here I will tell It!

The list of banned breeds is wide ranging but there is one omission. The German Shepherd Dog (GSD). No one from the EDBA is suggesting that the GSD is more prone to aggression than other breeds. However in 1998 a survey was conducted in Germany to log the number of bites per breed
compared to population. List as follows.

GSD cross 2379
GSD 1956
Rottweiler 542
Doberman 223
All Bull And Terriers 169
Rhodesian Ridge Backs 6

In Hamburg, Germany, on June 26, an APBT and an American Staffordshire Terrier mulled to death six year old Volkan Kaja. These dogs were unrelenting in their attack. Their owners were unable to stop them. The police finally arrived and shot both dogs dead.

This is all that was reported in Australia and it was reported in the context of the ban being justified and sensible. It was reported only that they banned the APBT and other attack dogs.

The real truth was hidden, as usual. The owner, Ibrahim Kulunc, 24, was a known to the police as a drug dealing gangster. He had been convicted 17 times for robbery, grievous bodily harm and dog fighting. When the attack happened, the dog, Zeus, was already subject to a control order requiring him to be muzzled in public. This after he had bitten another person. An autopsy on Zeus revealed he had been used many times in fights and had large amount of STEROIDS and SPEED in his body and had not been fed for at least three days. Neighbours said that Ibrahim had trained Zeus to attack people and trained all of his dogs to do so.

At the time of the attack Zeus was unmuzzled and off lead, even though he was subject to a control order. What followed was predictable. The government banned American Pit Bull Terriers, all of the Bull and Terriers, Bandogs, all Mastiffs, Rottweilers and 40 more breeds. The strange thing is they did not ban the German Shepherd Dog, which causes the most human deaths from dog attack in Germany.

Had this been, for example, a Labrador would you consider a ban appropriate? Incidentally, there has been at least one death of an owner caused by a Labrador in Australia. Since this attack there have been at least two more fatal attacks by the dogs in Germany. The stated reason to ban the listed breeds was to eliminate fighting dogs, as they were characterised as devil dogs, loaded guns, and dogs that attack the throat etc. One year after this terrible incident dog attacks have not reduced from the levels of the previous year, even though the Government killed an unknown but substantial number of dogs in the fashion of the Jewish Holocaust, and those left are kept under strict regulations muzzling etc. The reason dog attacks continue is that the bad owners are still in control of dogs, and any type of dog can be made dangerous.

As i said helluva find bit, its a very interesting article. I havnt researched the situation in other countries to the degree that i have for here in the states. Looks like the same song, German Shepards responsible for 1956 attacks, all bull breeds combined only 169. And yet they go straight after the bulls, the first 3 breeds banned were APBT/AST/ST. They wont ban the German Shepard though, because its "their" dog.
There was a time when the pit was the americans dog icon.

Haha, douche, you have no idea what you are talking about. Read the entire Dangerous Dogs act, not only is it illegal to breed, sell or give one as a gift it is also now illegal to own one due to provision of section 3.

(3) After such day as the Secretary of State may by order appoint for the purposes of this subsection no person shall have any dog to which this section applies in his possession or custody

That 'such a day' came and went about 15 years ago.
