and as for mirc, i must just really suck at using it because whenever a new release is out, mirc only leads to long ass queues that i never get through because my mirc will just end up disconnecting somewhere in the middle

I use to be able to connect to efnet and criten all the time, now when I do the channels I want to goto such as xdcc this or that dont show any more, god Im such a lame ass with mirc and a God with news groups.

ONCE AGAIN UP YOUR AZZ REIGN

I should have it soon and will post what i think.

BTW I have a question, just wanted to know if this is a screener does that mean a copyright message keeps scrolling across every ten minutes or so???

Thanks

I don't have the 2 DVD Reign release, but as I assume that it is the same source (DVD SCREENER) as the InD release, then yes. All that pops up are the words "For your consideration". The message pops up every 10 minutes or so for about 10 seconds. It's very unobtrusive and doesn't interfere with the movie. Hope this helps.

True.. it has the "for your consideration" message.. but it´s not annoying at all..

im just comparing the 2 releases
the svcd is ok
the single disc dvdr is better
the 2 disc release dvdr is a lot better

take your pick

im watching the reign release

Anyone else noticed a small glitch near the end of disc 2? It skips/pixelates for a couple frames right when the assault on Isengard by the Ents starts (you see the ent picking up the rock). It's nothing major, but I'm just wondering if it was just a bad burn or not (it does the same thing in my set top and dvd-rom).

As for the ratings... 10/10/10. Gorgeous video transfer, superb sound, and the greatest movie ever

The SVCD looks fine on normal TVs below 32", but the sound still has that hiss on high frequencies (listen to Gandalf's whistle for shadowfax...ouch)
The XviD has better sound than the SVCD but the picture looks kinda grainy, and I noticed a lot more mpeg artifacts compared to the SVCD.
Never saw the iND release, but this REIGN release is superb.

Wink

well it says not to vote 10/10/10 but I think this release is deserving of it [ first one I have seen that does ] . This is of course considering that you like the movie . Don't say it is a 9 for video due to the 'for your consideration' as there is nothing that they can do about that [ without cutting out some of the image ] . They did a great job here and deserve many thanks .
Thank You for a Fantastic release REiGN !!! This is far superior to the iND release [ not taking any credit from them as they did a great job fitting the 3 hour film onto a single DVD ! ] .

This version sucks. I'll stick with my 5CD Cam VCD, thank you very much.

as an update, it's been nuked for being a dupe of iND's release.

...where does disc one end?

If you don't know the characters too well just tell me the time/counter?

thx

Posted by wAx on 01-16-2003 11:54 PM:

Disc one ends at 1:30:42, thats when Aragorn falls off the cliff.

hmmmm , well there are NO GLITCHES whatsoever in the iND single-disc DVD-R release, so that is another PLUS for it

JMHO.

Posted by w3rcl on 01-18-2003 07:26 AM:

Does anyone else see this glitch. On the 2nd Disc right when the Giant Tree guy throws the first rock. Its about 1 hour 9 minutes and 29 seconds into the second disc.

The video has garbage in it and the audio skips.

I can also see the glitch, but its only for a fraction of a second so it doesnt really matter. I will get the retail rip for archiving anyway.

The quality of this release is way better than iND.

Posted by solidusuk on 01-18-2003 06:59 PM:

well finnaly got the 1st disk and I have to say Im blown away by the quality here, the screener message is so un-abtrusive that you hardly even notice and the sound and picture is crisp.

Excellent and nothing but praises from me.

I shall have the iND release soon too and will do a comparison.

I was wondering because I have the same Two Tower with the for your consideration sign. My problem is I don't know how to encode it so it could be place on a vcd or dvdr. Because the three files are 700mb each and there all avi files. Can someone place help me out. Thanks Bigpooh!

That is not the iND or REiGN rip..... that is something else, especially if it is .avi probably DivX? Anyway, you will not gain ONE IOTA of quality by going to DVD-R (your material is only as good as its "source"), just it will be more convenient than swapping discs...

Picture and sound may be, but at the sacrafice of glitches, and having to use two discs......

I'll wait for Retail before I start burning 2 DVD-Rs .....Screeners w/their messages, are not worth it, JMHO...

I do have to say after reading the NFO with the REiGN release, it makes me laugh. They must not have been watching DVD's for very long to call this "the best dvd we have ever seen". LOL! What are ya, new?

As for quality, any kind of error in the rip makes it less quality. I think I heard someone is working on a patch for the error in the REiGN release.
