Good rls, the angle is there, but its not as extreme as say identity. I have yet to see this movie so ill definately be watching this release

8/8/?

This movie is one of the most stupid movies I've even seen. some people said "watch the original", but if the original has the same story, it must be just as stupid. It's not a surprise to see Theron and Wahlberg in such a movie ->untalented actors belong into boring movies, but one thing did amaze me: how the hell did they get Norton to play a part in this movie? Did they threaten him with a gun?

You're close. They threatened him with legal action.

Norton's first movie was Primal Fear. When he took the role, he signed a contract with Paramount to do 2 more feature films for them at a later date.

To make a long story short, many years passed without Norton and Paramount being able to agree on a movie.. Finally Paramount exercised it's option to force him to do a project.. The Italian Job

Yes forced. He didn't want to do the movie. He had no choice. That is also why you don't see him around in the press/talk shows promoting the film.. he hates it.

So with that in mind. ?/?/0

LOL, I seriously don't know why some of you guys are making this out to be a TCF vs. CTP thread. Just comment on the release quality and move on, I found it to be pointless to go beyond the conversation. Both groups are great in their respective format, I for one only watch screeners and dvdrips so i grab alot of TCF releases or maybe once in a blue moon I'll watch a CTP/TCF TS but I'm not a fan of angles so I skip most. Hehe, I agree with that one guy though 8 Mile was a pretty DAMN good TS for being mpeg-1 but TCF hasn't been able to duplicate that in their past few TS's. The last ones that I remember having good audio besides 8 Mile were Hot Chick, Bringing Down the House and Matrix. Every other one had an annoying buzz but once they get that fixed then maybe I'll have a different opinion. CTP has got the colors and audio down but like I said I'm not a fan of angles and major cropping so I (not YOU) will wait for a screener copy or will pay a visit to my local AMC 7/7/8, I enjoyed the movie even if some of yall hated it. The Mini Cooper scenes were nice.

Video- 8 - Nice video, still bruce almighty looked better, but still amazing quality
Audio- 7 - Good normal audio, expected from CTP
Movie- 7 - Yea pretty good movie, so obvious whats gonna happen even though i didn't see previews, saw with friends though....

Centropy you guyz rock..

Why PAL format with these movies recently?? No way to convert the MPEGs to NTSC that I can find without $1000 software and my Sony plays PAL with a jerky picture. Centropy does the best work but the PAL is real buzz kill.

What DVD players are you guys using to play these PAL encoded SVCDs?

Posted by ams30gts on 06-10-2003 12:10 PM:

superb quality. still has the slight angle, but pic and sound is great

typical ctp

Posted by kilik123 on 06-10-2003 02:28 PM:

When you first start watching the movie you can tell there IS a slight angle, however after a few mins you wont even notice it as you get used to the way the movie looks. Sound is top notch and video is great, slightly pixeled in parts.

CTP gets closer and closer to the perfect TS...

8/9/X (watchin the whole movie tonight, heard its not that great though, we'll see...)

Very good video, excellent sound, unfortunatley in the parts where people are speaking in a different language the translation has been chopped off the bottom.

8/9/6

Good film, shame it doesn't live up to the original

Very good video, excellent sound, shame about the english subtitles/place names being half chopped off.

8/9/6

When ctp gets around the brightness/darkness problem with telesyncs the only problems with releases will be the actual glitches on the screen

TS's are often done in PAL because the framerate (25fps) is similar to that of FILM (23.976fps) so the flicker that comes from mismatched framerate isn't as bad.

sony is a poor choice for a dvd player to play pirated movies. sony is a content producer as well as a hardware manufacturer, and have little to gain by facilitating the use of copied flicks. our apex has an option in the setup menu that allows us to output at PAL or at NTSC, regardless of the format of the source disc.

you can convert without $1000 software, but i would just sugest getting a good dvd player. I have found Samsung/Apex to be the best, but i think Apex discontinued dvd players with (s)vcd support

Posted by skevlin on 06-11-2003 11:04 PM:

Apex discontinued VCD support not SVCD.

There's still an angle. But the vid still kicks ass.

7/9/6

Nice release. Video quality is good, sound is excellent, but it loses a lot of points in my book for cutting off the subtitles to try and hide the tilt.

Tmpgenc will re-encode it from PAL SVCD to NTSC SVCD. I've done it dozens of times (basically on all of centropys releases).

It's not the fastest encoder but you'll never have an audio sync problem. It takes about 3 hours to re-encode to ntsc with motion search quality set to "high". Faster if you use normal, etc. This is on a P4/2.4Ghz. If you aren't familiar with video encoding, it's about as simple as it gets. It also does DVD and VCD.

www.tmpgenc.com -- it's $49.

For this release:

Video - 8
Audio - 7
Movie - 6

A little more of the "angle" in this one then their last few releases. but not bad at all. Excellent colors and sharpness.

Centropy is my hero. lol.

Video = 8
Audio = 8
Video = 9 (its got Norton in it and I'm a sucker for for remakes of old classics)

umm saw movie last night...didnt like it very much. Too slow and not enough action. I ended up walking out with 15 minutes left....and talked on my cell phone with a girl. So i missed the ending but my "boys" said it sucked and its a movie i shouldve let them watch off the internet instead of wasting 7 bucks each. This sample is the best 8/8/6....i will get this but not worried about it very much.
