Dark scenes are still not very watchable, but hands down the best release thus far.

Posted by mjkpro11 on 08-20-2003 05:59 AM:

little dark and to the question 2 replies ago..
yes the hissing is like first 3 min of film.. after that nothing...

I think the rating is correct .. a little high I think for video so..
6/7/7

the dots are interesting..I didn't notice during swat but totally noticed during the lightning in this movie..
wondered why they never did that to begin with..

but..
you really think EVERY theatre copy has these dots?
EVERY THEATRE??

Wouldn't that mean EVERY reel would have to basically be touched individually AND would have to make sure it gets to its correct destination .. I think that is alot of work isn't it?

or is it you think .. "certain" theatres that are suspected ?
you know 100 reels being marked is more logical than THOUSANDS right?

It is just interesting to me.. that they would actually put that IN the movie .. VISIBLE to the naked eye. it distracts from the scenes they are shown in.. it isn't like they are shown once.. it is ALOT . You would think the directors or producers would have a COW about those dots showing during movie.

Would you think Lucas would allow those to be seen during his precious work of arts "Star Wars" (maybe)

just interesting thats all.

Nice rls for being so soon after the theatrical release. Much better than the previous one. Picture is sharp but fight scenes are hard to make out. Picture is cropped but doesn't seem to take away from the movie to much. Sound is good although music seems a bit louder than the dialog. Might be my speakers.

Overall
7/7/8

Thumbs up

Beginning audio is fuct, after about 1.5mins it's corrected.

Video is cropped from the sides. I would have prefered a wider screen, I hate full screen. The more you cut from the sides the more I miss.

Movie - - - It was cool, didn't dig on the story as much as the fighting between Jason and Freddy. I kind of think about it like Matrix Reloaded . . . don't care for the story, but wouldn't want to miss the action.

Worth seeing.

Read the NFO

:/

It is covered in the NFO, they have said the audio is shitty for the first few minutes.

Posted by Ronz on 08-20-2003 07:19 PM:

people, the quality of this release is woeful.

Sound is crap, and during the first few minutes, it is ridiculous. The video has a large portion chopped from each side, which is clearly noticable the whole way through, not to mention the darkness or it, with the brightness turned way up that just makes it worse, not better.

Im sorry i downloaded it.

Posted by SBG on 08-20-2003 09:46 PM:

Is it just me or have there not been any decent releases lately, a month or so ago there was at least one good release on each movie, anyways as for this 1 its not 2 bad, definetly room for improvement picture wise, sound is cushty after the first minute or so as stated in the nfo. Ive given up downloading movies for a while until releases come back on par again honestly u gotta admit theres been absoloute shite lately... still max respect to all the groups , big up ya selfs , boo clatz.... Plus i cant understand why these groups find it so hard to get hold of screeners there are so many dvd screeners floating about round my drug dealers gaf.. freddy vs jason e.tc. all of em ... man sort ya sources out , big up , booo select

I didn't mind the messed up audio during the first 3 minutes, but the darkness of the video really made many parts of the film almost unwatchable, because i simply couldn't see what's going, even though i watched the NOX release before and actually KNEW what was supposed to be happening.
And thats really a shame, because the overall vid quality was very tasty, very sharp (compared to the NOX-rls). Ah well, cant be helped I'm still glad TCR released it, that's all that matters.

Slightly off topic, whilst I agree on the quality of the film, I was wondering, if whilst watching on DVD player, does anyone get slight freezing of the film for the first 10 minutes. I'm wondering if it is the movie itself or whether to kick my DVD player around the room.

Posted by -=kamamia-san=- on 08-21-2003 02:38 PM:

@twiek:

load your mpeg2 into DVD2AVI, set Audio Output Method to "decode to wav". Then go to "File > Save Project as" and save. After a few minutes you get a small "d2v-file" which you load up in TMPGEnc as video source, so it can read the mpeg2 stream, add the wav that DVD2AVI created and you're ready to go.

good movie, went in with poor expectations and came out happy.
funny as shit to adults, could have been scary to kids like they were when we were that young.

average ts, watchable, hearable, nothing too special, nothing too terrible

7/7/8

Quality was decent enough to watch but the cropping is really getting to me lately (if it isn't angles it's major cropping ). Almost the entire left and right sides are not visible, for example at the begginning when the girl jumps out of crystal lake because her boyfriend doesn't respond, she runs towards the forest and see's jason BUT YOU BARELY SEE JASON in this release (only a part of his mask and blade). Video was pretty dark and dull, and sound was audible but scratchy at times. Good Job though, best version out. And to that guy saying that TCR ripped off TcS's nfo, they're the same group different division so I doubt they mind 7/7/8

Posted by Jarod888 on 08-22-2003 09:51 AM:

Just finished watching this one, Video is a bit dark, but it is a "dark" movie, so I give it a 7.
Audio, fine other than a few hisses, mainly cd 1 first 2.5 minutes or so, but that is explained in the NFO, there are a few other hisses but over all not too bad, 6.5.
Movie over all, not bad not the greatest, I am not really a fan of either, basically pretty neutral. But I always liked NightMare On Elm Street better. Overall 6.
7/6.5/6

I noticed the "dots" either 2 times in cd 1 or 3, It is late, I am not sure, and 1 time in cd 2, They are really freaking annoying, I would just about complain if I had seen them in the theatre, they aren't that visable, and are on the screen only for a few seconds, but enough to notice. I used to edit, I was in a TV productions Class in high school, and usually 1 frame of something is almost invisable, but not when it is 5 freaking dots, red none the less in the middle of the freaking sceen. If the studios feel they need to do this, which if about as dumb as pet rocks, then they could at least have the curtesy to put them at the bottom, top or side and in a non intrusive color. If they are a true digital watermark that can be picked up by a computer, or advance digital editing equipment, then what purpose does it serve to put them in the middle.

I just got done watching this release. It's a little dark at times, but as previously stated this is a dark movie to begin with. Also the dark scenes are still watchable. I just watched the whole thing and I followed the plot just fine. Audio is swet in this too.

As far as quality of the film itself, I loved it. I've seen all the Elm Street movies and the original Friday the 13th film, and this has to rank right up there beside Wes Craven's New Nightmare in my book.

good enough for me. the pics pretty clear, the sounds cool, cept for the occasional hiss. shit, beggers can't be choosers. thanks tcr.
