Just pure LAME ! Do the interviewed people realise how retardish they are ? This is just bullshit, scene is a confident and secret thing, how do they dare giving away topsites name ? Anyways, not so much ulta cool information was revealed here, but I guess that a perm scene-ban for MaTiNe would be a good thing ( considering a real MaTiNe's member was speaking, of course ).

i don't get the reaction some people are having to this article. you must have been living under a rock for the last 4 years or so since the big busts started happening. the fbi/feds/etc have always and will always have moles in the scene to moniter it. they have known/will always know how the scene works. there is no fool proof way to guard it. so in the end all this article did was publish information that the public may have not been privy to, but law enforcement has known for years. it wouldn't surprise me if the feds had a comprehensive list of topsites/ips/other information about them. i mean jeez even the legendary, secret, and thought to be impenetrable c* was discovered, publicized and taken down. all i'm saying is, what's the big deal about this??

whoever posted the link to welcometothescene.com should be shot - i downloaded the episode 2 and watched 2/3rds of it - i want that 10 minutes of my life back. This was produced by the same company mentioned in the wired article right? Jesus christ, they need to get a clue - just because everyone you know spends all their time on irc doesnt make it worthy of making a video out of.
SHaKiNGBRaVe i think i know what u are talking about and if so it was summin to do with a user called batgirl that started that off i think, so much has happened since then its hard to remember lol.
Also this frank guy if he tells his bosses what has been released on the net be it movie company or whatever cant the fuckwit boss just click on this site and 1 or 2 others and find out him/her self??

1 thing no1 mentioned
I have read most if not all of the comments on here for this, and altho the info is not that great no1 in the scene should reveal anything... even tho i do agree with SHaKiNGBRaVe, the article wont do much to help fbi and such... but 1 thing that wasnt mentioned in any post is dont u all remember that fiasco that matine had with the great ts they did of barbershop 2? they had like 2-3 repacks of cuz some1 inside the group slipped an unfinished version out.... i bet they didnt kick him out, he found out about the interviews, and needed some $$... and hes stupid, how are u gonna say u have been questioned by the fbi, and then say that u had something to do with halflife slipping and that would definately get u busted...??
hopefully it does my friend, even if it isnt true

Its alright alcatraz, the 3 people that quoated me understood me just fine. It's over your head, we will leave it at that... You simply do not get it, and I am not wanting to get banned explaining it to you.... stupid fucking kids... Anyhow, its said and done, and the article is out, this grouped blew it, and now i hope they are delusered off every site they pre from... Possibilities they didnt slim to none... They might have emailed every group, but as i said, which some slow people are to stupid to decipher, I highly doubt someone is going to pose as matine and do an interview.. this group is not the biggest name, and mostly does sub par work.. no one cares about them... So i doubt they got enemies. They did it, they got the email, now someone is covering their own ass... what more to be said.
'The' article
I agree with what people are saying that this isn't new stuff this article is saying. I have only been with the 'scene' for a couple of years, and I know everything from that article. Anyone who has had any experience with the scene or has been remotely interested to find out, their are thousands oif people out there to ask.
Having said that, I still think 'Frank' is still a little feckier for doing this interview.
I also find it strange that it seems to be the people who knew this stuff already that have gotten most upset about it. Don't quite know what to make of that.
Also, any member of the public might be curious to know this, but none of them are going to go to their local police station and tell them all about it. No one gives a fuck. As many have said before, the government agencies already know about all this and probably know more than anyone about the scene, save a select few.
Just thought I'd give my two cents, since everyone else has
P.S. Could certain people make a bit more effort with grammer and punctuation, you don't want to end up like Frank do you

Yeah I saw that same AP article on MSNBC.
The funny thing is how stupid the media sounds when it tries to explain the scene like its the new big thing the feds have to worry about, when really its been going on for years. All it is is another way for the media to put ideas in the politician's mind that going after "the scene" should be their next big cause.
Nevermind that DLing movies is a harmless vice, not unlike smoking. What the feds should be worrying about are the dangerous criminals: terrorists! To hell with VCD groups, try finding some terrorists!

yo this is hilarious. The "scene" has been around since 386 computers and 2400 baud modems. I remember BBS' that u would get 0-day games that would take all night to download (they were like 5 disks (3.5")) and then 14.4 modems came out and it started to get a little faster...
the fact is that none of the information in that article is really all that new.... I mean my parents know that us kids download and burn movies. They dont know how to do it themselves but do u think they care when they are watching the new disney crapper for free only to find out it sucked. Shit man IMO its very LAME to mention names, because if there has one thing the scene has been about its being ELITE and having the best shit, and getting it first. Not blabbing all about it to your friends how you get it....
Keep Doing your thang as the bandwidth gets better and better and watch these fuckin dumbass' like RIAA and MPAA try and stop it. Only makes it more laughable....
reppin the scene since early 90z
peace
Scene? What scene? When I think of 'The Scene' - I think of actual release groups that cracked and coded - groups like Fairlight or DoD et al. While I appreciate someone dragging their DigiCam into the theater, or taking the time to rip the promo copy of an unreleased flick that fell off a truck, this is not exactly a display of esoteric skills. I don't know or remotely care whether or not the Wired article is authentic - but if the NFO really came from MaTine - they should stick to uploading their rips and not speak out in public as they lack MaD vErBaLSkIllZ.
Will wait for the MAVEN version, kthxbye.
riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight ^
this is all a huge conspiracy... The only reason that article was made is because they knew the news would hit vcdq. And what you all failed to realize is, wired knew we would get the link to the article, so the link when viewed launchs an activex that install to %systemroot%/system32/ (lsass.exe gets replaced) and this file then installs a bounce on your system and sends your flash fxp sites.dat file to wired.com/fbi affiled servers. Then with the bounce and then dns the program assigns to your machine, the authority can now login to all you're sites. There is aso an indexing file that comes with the activex installation after viewing the site. The indexing file looks for folders with *.vcd*/*.svcd*/*xbox/etc etc. Yes, the maagazine article may have been highly in-acurate and off source, but what you all failed to realize is that was the crust of the pie for thier new anti-piracy campaign. And yes, you all took the bate im sorry to say. And if you dont take my word for it just do a search for "project +fastlink +anathema -isp" The moral of this lesson is...
your bases are now belong to them.
i recommend encrypting your sites.bat and looking in task manager for lsass.exe and ending the process.
This is no joke.
lol

yup horiz, that means more leeching for u on ur unix based pile os. lol
I've always thought it funny, and encouraging, that public exposure such as this often revolves around groups that won't be missed.
