Audio is a better in this release though besides the sync problems with audio/video on cd2 and cd3 on parts
Not bad TUN
Give you the props on this one
Besides the sync problem im having with PowerDVD
and my DVD Player
Good release.
Awesome movie.
If you got the Visa release, stick with it as the audio isnt far off from this one.
Would get a better rating if it wasnt for sync issues

Too Be Honest Just finished watching CD1 and CD2 and really didn't notice any sync issues the darkness and colors can be fixed with tmpgenc when converting to dvd...looks fine and alot better than the workprint, watching CD3 now...and still no issues...trying converting the bin from the smallest file and it will resolve the issue..

8/9/10 with tmpgenc fix...audio and video are fine..

video - 6.5. as others have stated, dark and too red, but still very watchable. oh, and russian title/scroller. technical aside: for a number of reasons, like backwards-compatibility with b&w tv sets, the color (chroma) signal of video is at a much lower resolution than the brightness (luma) signal. this is most visible in the reds. i think this (plus the oversaturation of red) may be why some people mentioned that this looks like it has compression artifacts. it doesn't look blockier than usual to me, but players/decoders vary as far as video smoothing goes.

audio - 6.5. good overall, but it was analogue at some stage. at 0:30:00 on the first disc, you can hear gsm interference, which means that someone had a cellphone within about 10' of analog audio recording equipment when the audio was recorded. more tech: i wonder if a different audio was sourced for this. international releases of movies are often trimmed a bit. if the audio was pulled from a domestic release while the video was russian, that could account for the desync on disc 3. (note: haven't gotten to disc 3 yet, so i haven't seen any desync.)

movie - 7.5. easily the best of the new trilogy. anakin needs to whine/mope/be sappy less and kick ass more.

just finished watching this one.

Significant picture information has been cropped on all sides. I'd say at least 17% of the total image is gone in this version. the audio is off on parts 2 and 3 and the

As stated before, the video is definitely very dark on this rls. Audio isn't bad, but the WP seems to have the edge in this category. Syncing wasn't as bad as stated in earlier posts, but it is noticeable in certain scenes. Cropped, but nowhere near as bad as that old Constantine TS. If you can get past the timers, stick with the WP. If not, grab this.

hmm.. tun rushed it a bit

russian source, prolly had subs which they cropped off...?
ill give the video a 6 audio a 5 cuz of synce issues and movie a 7.

come on Saosin Proper! im sure saosin will get a US source soon and proper this release, im sure tun just wanted to be first and didnt check their release before putting it out. dunno if its even a tc maybe a semi good russian ts?
I have a fealing they got their video source from a russian group and just added english audio.. assumptions.

After converting with tmpeg, I didnt have a glitch problem, nor was the desync that bad. Only noticed it once, and it wasnt bad at all.
Between the "2" releases (wp vs. tc) they both have their issues. It's just up to you to decide what you can live with, and what ya cannot.
I'd like to see a ctp ts release, fixing brightness and russian issues, and ridding of the timers. lol I guess time will tell. Does anyone else remeber "something.we.had.laying.around"? I sure do =P

I must say this is a bit confusing: VCDQ says it is nuked due to unsynchronized audio on cd2, while EVERY single poster here is complementing this one for it's "great" -counterless- video

As far as I can tell, cd2 is a bit out of sync. Video is ok, especially on TV it is good (aren't they always)

Question

From the sample it looks pretty good... sync problems and color can be fixed (slightly) with tmpgenc... so thats cool... I havent seen the beginning yet though.. is the title and scrolling text in Russian?

This quality is even worse than the Star.Wars.Episode.III.INTERNAL.WP.DVDR because the whole movie is kind of red and dark whole the time the only good thing about this "TC" is that it has no timers

Posted by mallanikkelse on 05-23-2005 10:03 PM:

Well I too have had a look on both the wp and this new release. Personally, I suggest that you stick with the wp, if you can get past the timer, that is. The video of the wp is not as dark as this one, and the audio in the wp is also far better!!

First of all, the audio for this release has to have been recorded via an analouge machine, as I can also hear the mobil phone interphearing in the audio track. Rather annoying.
Secondly, some of the wp sound track indeed was in stereo, this is deffenetlly only in mono, all the way through!
Last but not least, this audio for the tun-release, was clearly taken from an international release, as audio played about three percent faster in comparecent to the wp (US audio). Try and listen closley to the two audio versions, and I'm sure you can hear what I mean.

Rating: video 5, audio 4, movie 9.

Posted by Redemption198 on 05-23-2005 11:38 PM:

mallanikkelsen, yeah the sound is better on the WP, sound great through A Surround system, this doesnt sound to hot, but is fine enough.
This is a PAL release, so yeah it is speeded up by 4% nearly all TC are.

Picture is better in my opinion on this and is only too dark on the PC, looks fine on the TV to me, and i remember thinking this film was too dark in the theatre anyway.

BiggD23, putting SVCD's on a DVD like that wont work in all DVD players, they do on 3 out of my 4 players, but thats why some people still have to re-encode.
