Great quality - but why did they have to cut it just as the titles start... should of given at least 3-4 secs of titles...
Converted to PAL dvd using ulead dvd factory. Must say the results are awesome. Could quite easily mistake for retail at first glance. Looks great on a big screen.

defo defo not telecine , i think the source is from a trial first dvd sourcr , but not a remastered version , pic good and so is audio , needs slightly sharpening up thats all , look at the titles slight flicker going on there . by far best release

Anyone else get this, or are my channels just reversed? (I'm pretty sure my audio is setup right, as this is the first movie I've experience this on)
I agree that it's definitely not at TC. If it is, it's one of those "digital telecines" that I theorized about a while back, taken directly from a digital projector (which could explain the reluctance to reveal the source). Definitely not a standard TC from film source.. contrast isn't near as high as TC's usually are.
It's definitely from a digital source of some kind, that much is certain. Since the original version of the film is digital, it doesn't really need the "remastering" that film sources have.
I think the fact that it's a non-scene/group release explains nearly every fault this thing has. Some lucky SOB got a hold of a DVD or whatever, and did a quick-and-dirty XviD encode. Problem is, they didn't know what they were doing. This explains the "soft" look of the video, the abundance of compression artifacts, hints of whatever de-interlacing technique they used (i.e. the "flickering" titles), and the improperly-compressed audio. And it may also explain the 2.0 audio instead of 5.1, and the fact that the left/right channels are reversed. The sort of mistakes a newbie would make with DVD2AVI or whatever.
So, in comparison to other DVDRips, my vote would be:
7/6/7.

Not out of sync at all.

Use mpegmodifier, open the file, you'll see a edit box with a number like dixv999b000p, change the p to a "n" and make sure square pixels is checked, save as whatever and it will play any qpel encoded avi.

btw the movie is

What stinks?

Oh, it's just JC
Got this, too.
the first release was quick but horrible (counters on screen, wrong aspect ratio), the second (with the russian intro) was better, but too dark and cut on the sides, finally this one is the one to keep and watch until I buy the dvd christmas 2005
(of course I have have watched it at the theaters, too)
9/7/9
only problem: playback problem with my pioneer DV-470. its stuttering (very short stop every second), but perfect flawless on the PC with media player. any suggestions? (using MPEG4 modifier? tried "unpack bitstream", doesnt help)
otherwise I have to convert it to mpeg2/DVD-R
slight fuzziness in the finer detail of the video showing that it is probably from an analog source but nontheless this is an excellent rls.
9.5/9.5/9 (bit corny in parts but hey, it is star wars after all, long live sw...)
Video: 8.5 best available yet
Audio:6 lots of cracking, popping
Movie 8.5 I loved it.
Anyone else get the cracking and popping? I can here it during the first scene (when the spaceship comes into view).
audio not that great
I have read the other posts and I just wanted to say that I have watched this copy and while the video does look digital, I do not believe that this is from a true dvd since the audio quality is questionable.
Still, if you can't afford the cinema, watch this copy. I don't think it takes away two much from the cinema experiance as long as you've got a good system.
How Do i get this movie
help
:: POST OF THE YEAR AWARD 2005 -D

There is a DVD version of this, the quality is excellent.
The sound channels do seem to be reversed though.
Other than that great release.

To everyone who is complaining that it wont work on phillips, jvc, etc, etc.
Use dr divx and convert to 5.2 divx.
I have a jvc 316 and it plays wonderfully.
9/8/8
BTW if you are looking for a dvd player that plays anything including divx 6 get a peekton pk6055 mk2
Video: 8
A bit fuzzy and jerky playback (only occurs for a millisecond during certain scenes)
Audio: 8
2ch for a movie split into two avi files. It's okay. Sound is reversed, but its easily fixed.
Movie: 6
Since this is not a true dvd rip, I believe that they captured the video and sound like the one with Sideways. The best release overall.
great release,
picture seems just fine for the time it came out.
still no sound though.
any help.?
Video is nice, not top quality DVD rip nice, but for such a big film, and at this speed you can't complain.
I've got a pretty strange sound problem with this release though. When there's talking or music the sound is clear as a bell. But when there's lazers being shot or crafts whizzing past in the space scenes(such as in the sample) I get horrific stratching, popping and crunching sounds. Tried installing some new codecs but with no joy. Could it be the treble being too high, as someone mentioned? If I covert it to DVD will all this shit still be there, or could it just be my shitty PC speakers?
quote:Could be your speakers; try out some headphones. If it's still there, might be settings on your PC. Audio is crisp and clear for me, whole way through.
