too dark of course, horizonal lines through the movie, looks like sh^t-great movie but wait for something better

the darkness problem is far less extreme as most posters are claiming, still a very watchable copy... after viewing entire movie:

6/7/8 (very good movie)

I couldn't take the darkness after the first disc. I don't know what kind of TV people have who are rating the video 7 or higher, but I wish I had one.

4/8/8 (Based on 1st Disc)

For the benefit of myself and others, could you please post what you watched this on (tv/pc) and whether or not you had to fiddle with any controls/settings to improve viewing quality.

It's not CTP's best, and it might be that i have a slightly better tv-set than others, but i really cant say that its as bad as some people portray.

For me the movie (so yes.. the video too) was very decent, and easy too follow.. very few scenes were THAT dark that u could barely see what was happening, and they were always indoor and meant to be dark coz that's just how it was back then without electricity.

It's a good movie too.. bit much leaning towards an oscar tho.. could be me but the director is trying too hard for that imo.

As far as ratings go :

V - 6.5 (could have been better.. most groups would have made it worse i'm sure, since there's no proper or any other copy out that is this watchable)
A - 8 (since DTS is dead i'm rating it as far as direct audio could go - this is no let down for sure)
M - 7.5 (good movie, but as i said before.. they're trying to hard for the oscar but that could just as well be me )

ok... I've deleted every stupid/pointless post from this thread, next I start deleting accounts.

For anybody who cares, here is my take on this release:

The bright scenes are very crisp, clear and the colour is good.

The dark scenes are like they're from a different rip. Reddish, WAAAAAAAY dark and basically the scenes are reduced to "floating" red heads on a black background. We attempted to correct it using various filters on WinDVD (outputting to a 42" 1080i Plasma) and we couldn't affect the dark scenes enough to make them watchable. We also attempted to correct it by burning to a CD then playing back in the DVD player (and correcting on the TV itself) - still no joy.

Basically, you *can* improve the dark scenes a bit but they're still too dark to watch comfortably and as such, we turned the movie off after about 20 minutes.

On a side note, after skimming though the movie, there's a helluva lot of dark scenes

V - 6 (shame, cos the bright scenes are pretty damn nice)
A - 6 (slightly quiet and muffled but reasonable enough)
M - Dunno, but the 'tards on iMDB think it's better than sex

Sorry CTP, NOT up to your usual standard. Yes it is watchable. But the pic is Darker than Batman Begins FFS. Thanks but i will wait for a TC or better.

6.5/8/?

House of Cinderella????

Haven't got around to watching it on set top yet, but from sample and cue-mount, here's my verdict:

Video: 6.2 (Really dark guys, reminds me of House of Wax, not too bad in the fight scenes but even then it's a little washy)
Audio: 8 (Crisp enough for my liking)
Movie: N/A (Haven't watched full movie, will edit after watching)

Definitely not up to par for Centropy's usual TS quality, looks watchable if I set my settings on my DVD Player and TV just right, will hope for the best...

a hurry to see the film. i'd wait til a screener or a dvd rip appears.
In all not a half bad movie.
