I've attached a picture of the difference between the official release and the GH3 release stolen from that guy's site.

The bottom one is obviously the CD sample.

Awesome, thanks man. I looked for the day you mentioned it, but I'm getting it now. Can't wait to hear it. I'm excited.

Got this a little while ago, I skipped right to the end of The Day That Never Comes, and it does sound A LOT better, There is some noise to it. It's not perfect, but it's damn near.

On my way to work I turned on a radio station that I sometimes listen to and a song was on. The first thing I noticed about this song was that is sounded somewhat "distorted" and though of Metallicas new CD. Then comes a guitar solo and I'm almost positive it's them. The song ends and dude says, "That's Metallica with blah blah." My point is I thought it funny that I could tell it was their new stuff by the sound quality. It really is crap.

No point starting a new thread but I saw them again on Monday (02-03-2009) at the O2 arena.

The Sword and Machine Head were supporting (I only caught Machine Head but they were pretty good).

Metallica put on an awesome show (if you don't like Metallica, stay away from this thread.. I'm aware they are somewhat disliked by many people but... start another thread bashing them if you feel the need.. I'm a Metallica fan as well as a metal fan which I realise conflicts at a lot of the time so..).

Setlist was...

That Was Just Your Life
The End Of The Line
Creeping Death
Holier Than Thou
One
Broken, Beat And Scarred
Cyanide
Sad But True
Turn The Page
All Nightmare Long
The Day That Never Comes
Master Of Puppets
Damage Inc.
Nothing Else Matters
Enter Sandman
- - - - - - - -
Too Late Too Late
Phantom Lord
Seek and Destroy

Awesome performance... sound was fantastic, lights were good, pyros were back (they weren't there during the last O2 gig).

Only problem is that I was getting a lift home and he said "I want to leave before the encore to avoid the car park rush"...so Sandman finished and me and my mate donged our way back to the car park and wondered where our lift was. It turns out he meant "I want to leave before the last song is over" so, due to the NO READMISSION POLICY, we missed out on Too Late, Too Late (which happened to be only the second time EVER that they'd played it live) as well as Phantom Lord (our lift's favourite song) and some of Seek & Destroy (which I've seen a dozen times before but it's always a riot).

I know a few people don't like the new album for various reasons but the simplified riffs on it work because that's exactly what they did for the earlier albums (opening riff for Puppets... a simple down the E string riff... Seek & Destroy.. basic pentatonic E riffs... etc. etc.).

Only thing I'm gutted about is that they didn't play The Judas Kiss which they premiered at Nottingham.

Only a few hours after the gig had finished, Metallica had posted the London gig ready for download ($9.95) which is damn good quality so at least I got to listen to the songs I missed.

A+

Heh... call it fate or whatever but due to me and my mate getting our wires crossed and leaving early, he got home about 45 minutes earlier than expected. He got into bed and about 10 minutes later his heavily pregnant missus (who still had another 4 weeks to go) went into labour... there was no reception in the O2 arena and if we'd stayed until the end we'd have been hours late so he'd probably have missed his kid's birth.

I feel better about missing the songs now.

Last time I saw them live was in 1994 almost 15 years ago, HOLY FUCK there old. HOLY FUCK I'm getting old.

They put on a decent show then, I can't remember what all they sang. I recall

Enter Sandman
Master of Puppet
One
I'm almost 100% sure they did Last Caress/Green Hell

I also remember them ending the night with "So what"

Danzig opened up for Metallica so it was a great show.

Suicidal Tendencies was suppose to be the first act but didn't show up. I never got another chance to see them live, which sucks. There music is still fucking awesome.

I think 94 was the last time I saw them too, in Milton Keynes... they had Machine Head there too as I recall. I think Pantera and Megadeth were also present. Good times.

Out of the five shows I've seen of Metallica, the best had to be the 1989 Damaged Justice Tour (Kellogg Arena, Battle Creek, Mi) when Queensryche (Empire) opened for them. A close second had to be the 1993 with there Nowhere Else To Roam Tour (Black Album, at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo, Mi) though seeing them back in 83 in Chicago and 85 in Detroit when they weren't as mainstream yet still makes them two of the best concerts I had ever been to in High School.

One of the best concerts I've been to was Mushroomhead and Gwar, The Mush opened up for Gwar. Great show.
