People like them, and wheres the harm? They do good from this Americans eyes, just as figureheads.

She opens Parliament, sounds like a formality, The PM has to be allowed in, once again a formality it appears, as he/she is elected by popular vote, could the queen really say no? (Has that happened recently?)

Huge pension for former RBS boss

Sir Fred Goodwin, the former chief executive of Royal Bank of Scotland, is already drawing a pension of £650,000 a year, despite only being 50.

The BBC has learned that the pot that generates his pension is worth £16m.

Sir (SIR LMFAO) Fred's strategy and decision to buy ABN Amro is widely seen as making the bank more vulnerable to the credit crunch and having to be bailed out.

RBS, which is 70% owned by taxpayers, is expected to announce the UK's biggest corporate loss on Thursday.

It's important to remember that the monarch can also dissolve parliament as she sees fit - even before an election. The idea is that she has the power to overturn any potential dictatorships before they occur.

Essentially she's our last line of defence, much like a presidential veto. Unfortunately like the veto the power is unlikely to ever be exercised since it would result in anarchy.

Another reason why the democratic systems in this country need to be overhauled

I wish people here would stop equating "royalty" with "british royalty". Some of us come from civilised countries where the Queen is still respected.

Married to a Nazi, a member of Bilderberg - the closest anyone is going to admit to being illuminati - and scams a £100m/year while having a wealth of £bn's?

I fucking respect her for taking you for a ride!
